About the Buenos Aires (sp) Eucharistic miracle, I bought a couple of books on the subject and one says that they couldn’t get a human genetic profile while it also says Dr. Zugibe (sp) declared the tissue and blood to be from a human.

What’s the difference and why can’t they get a human genetic profile? Is it because Jesus is God?

Anyone know?

I don’t know, but given human tendency to push the limits and modern technology, if one could retrieve a human genetic there would be a strong temptation for some to clone Jesus in his humanity.

Well, I didn’t know about this, but here’s my MX$2:

In the late 1900s, the body of a man dead over a century was exhumed from the Canadian icepack. The man almost looked alive; however, when his tissues were examined microscopically, the cell nuclei had disappeared in parts.

Maybe the lack of DNA is just what one would expect in the biology of someone who lived not 100, but over 1900 years ago?

Maybe. The doctor said it was human DNA but the Forensic Analytical Reort describes “the presence of human DNA in low concentration and high molecular weight for DNA(good quantity) but it also proffers that the sample may not be of human origin presumably on the basis that the tests failed to produce a human genetic profile.”

Jesus was half God and half man?

Correction: Jesus is fully God and fully Human.

Do you think that it would make sense that they couldn’t get a human genetic profile because Jesus is fully God and fully man? If so, what about Mary? Wouldnt she give Him that?

The Host in this “miracle” was distributed to human in the communion line. This person, in the process of being sick, dumped (or puked up) the host on the floor where it lay for several days before being found. Can you imagine the incredible amount of contamination on the host? If any DNA was really found in the testing there is no way of knowing where it came from. Please do not put any faith in this “scientific investigation”.

I emailed the author of this book a while back and asked for a copy of the book (there is no way I would have spent money on this). I was surprised that he graciously sent a copy to me for free. Having said that though the book is a scam. Please do no spend any more money on anything he sells. There is no independent review of any of his " iinvestigation". He has other stories in the book that have been debunked. He writes of a woman who claims to have visions of Jesus and she writes down thing he tells her. Later it was discovered that the writings were out of a lecture from give by theology professor.

Again please don’t spend any money on this guys book or give any of his “work” credibility.

how could it be fake when our Pope was part of the investigation?

What about the miracle at Lanciano? Do you believe in that one?

The Pope, when he was Bishop of Buenos Aires, authorized someone to take a small sample of the host. That was the extent of his involvement.

The book is a scam.

The National Catholic Register has an article about EMs and this one in particular. They write like it’s real. Wish I could link you but I don’t know how to link things on my new iPad. Sorry.

The Real Presence Association has this miracle listed as real, too.

Apologies for my brevity.

I have no opinion on Eucharistic miracles – They neither make nor break my faith. No opinion on *genetic profiles *of miraculous elements nor anyone/thing else (I cannot even parse the above questions?).

I was merely hoping to help the participants in this discussion to avoid heresy.

That is all,

This is an interesting thing, and from what I recall, 1900 yrs is relatively young when it comes to DNA, I believe they can still find intact DNA from much much older things if it was preserved in an adequate manner, I even read one article awhile back they were able to find DNA from something like bone marrow from a dinosaur bone, that had been encased in the ‘right’ material over the years.

I dont think we are at the technological level to attempt a clone of Jesus, from this sort of thing, if that were even possible in the first place, but I do think there will be some big discoveries once we understand the findings on this a bit more, if we could see the exact DNA strand from JEsus himself, something tells me it would answer alot of questions for us about what is today a mystery.

No need to apologize. 🙂

I don’t know whether to put faith in the NCR or not. I’ve heard conflicting things about them.

There seem to be however, a snowstorm of alleged EM’s reported. Around 2000, I heard of one from a mission church near Austin. Supposedly, the “specimens” were taken to Rome to be investigated, but nothing was heard about it since.
