The pure moral/cultural relativist thinks child sacrifice is “OK” if everybody in the society thinks it’s OK. This was apparently the state of affairs in ancient Central American (and other ) civilizations, where the blood of children was “offered” to “gods”.

Abortion can be seen as ritualized human sacrifice (dismemberment, etc.) performed by Planned Parenthood “priests” in “abortion temples”.

Good way to put it.

Another analogy for abortion I heard is that it is like “burning God in effigy” since we are made in his likeness.

I recall one time after a particular abortion clinic had obtained a new incinerator–you know what it was used for–someone called the fire department when they noted a cloud of smoke arising from the building. But it was a false alarm. They had the same problem at Auschwitz.

Oh please.
cpschaeffer,

The correspondence occurs in many more dimensions as well, for example:

When children were sacrificed in ancient times, it was believed to be for the good of the society (and likely thought good for the mother or family making the sacrifice). If anyone in society were to question the sacrifice, they would be viewed as “outside of the mainstream” and they might likely be shouted down by pro-sacrifice people. If a member of the society were to try to stop the child sacrifice, they would certainly be restrained by governmental authorities.

Two things can result in an "inactive member status. A very long period of time since the last post, a significant time between when they first joined CAF and their first post.

Back to the topic. Yes, I can see where abortion on demand can been seen as human sacrifice to the gods of promiscuity and material selfishness.

It might be a surprise to some of you, but there were still societies where human sacrifice was still practiced in rural out of the way places in the twentieth century and it wasn’t the unborn who were being sacrificed.

Ancient pagan thought in regards of the soul preconditioned their minds to accept child sacrifice in the same manner it does today.
The ability to reason was to the pagan mind the sign that the soul had entered the body. So the child was not dignified as being human until the age of reason. Untill the child is able to reason their life was no more sacred than any animal slaughtered for the god’s or the dinner plate.

Today a child suffers the same mistaken identity the only thing that has changed is the developemental stage determined as the ‘sign’ that it’s life is human.
