You claimed you were once Catholic. Your reply indicates a very shallow understanding of the commandments.

Here is a full explanation.

Please read and then see if 1-6 still hold.
Read your link but adding more words doesn’t really help. The bottom line is that you have this all powerful entity insisting on being worshiped and that is just plain silly. If you had the technical capability to create your own world and a race of intelligent beings to inhabit it, would you insist on being worshiped?

I ask you the very same question I asked the other poster.

Yes. It is important to know your Creator and understand you are a creature not the creator. God has given you a free-will choice and you have turned your back to Him. He permitted you to do so, otherwise you would be a robot.

Our response to His love is to Love Him.

Not sure how to express my thoughts which come from the link that has at the bottom:
"Story Source:
The above story is reprinted (with editorial adaptations by ScienceDaily staff) from materials provided by University of Oxford."

I am always a bit leery of media adaptions. However, I would say that the research is presented properly. That being said, it appears that the main issue of spirituality in human nature is not in the story.

The main issue is that human persons have within their nature the ability to recognize the supernatural since the first day of human history. This does not imply accuracy in every form of recognition nor does it always lead to some form of predisposition. What is implied is that the ability to recognize the supernatural – even if it is only the primitive concept of such – is a principle of human nature. This ability is a function of the spiritual principle which is uniquely united with the co-principle of a material anatomy. In other words, human nature is an intimate unification of matter and spirit.

Blessings,
granny

The human person is worthy of profound respect.

Can you explain free-will in Heaven?

Can you explain free-will in Heaven?
A) Humans have free will
B) I am human
C) I have free will, from A and B
D) If I get to heaven, I will still be human
E) In heaven I will have free will, from C and D

Will we exercise free will immorally in heaven? No, as our will will be completely surrendered to God.

I believe she is referring to the source credit given at the end of the article which was cited in the first post:
sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110714103828.htm

Grannymh is correct that mainstream media often misinterpret or misrepresent science. This comes in large part because reporters typically have little grounding in the sciences. I certainly share her wariness when it comes to accepting a report at face value without additional probing.

I think ScienceDaily does a better job, though, since its focus is on reporting science news.

So we will have free-will but be unable to use it? Sort of like a robot?

You will have free will to the degree you can exercise holy behaviour. As part of salvation, we are asked to partake in divine nature and, therefore, be unwilling to sin once in Heaven as we incorporate this nature within ourselves.

I see. We will be free to do whatever we want in heaven except for the things that we are not free to do.

And why do we need to wait till we get to heaven to be convinced? What can’t God convince us now?
He is attempting to convince you now. Once dead you cannot be convinced. Whatever conviction you die with will be the one you will exist with for eternity.

If only those scientists had looked at my signature before wasting their time…

And why do we need to wait till we get to heaven to be convinced? What can’t God convince us now?
He has convinced over 1 billion currently through His Revelation and His Sons teachings. He wants us to freely love Him and follow His proposition. Catholics understand life on earth to be a probation. If He appeared right now many would convert out of fear which kinda defeats the purpose.

This is something I have recently re- learned. Our will, which is a function or property or ability of our spiritual soul, seeks the ultimate good which is God. When one thinks about our purpose to blissfully share in God’s life through knowledge and love, it makes perfect sense that we would automatically will to be in God’s friendship.

However, the key to remaining in God’s friendship is that as the creature, we must live in free submission to God the Creator. We need to recognize and respect our limitations. We are subject to the Creator’s laws and moral norms which govern the use of our freedom. Free submission is that we can either trust our Creator as our greatest good or we can prefer our own perceived good and in turn scorn our Creator.

Free submission, our free will, means that we can choose God as the greatest good or we can choose a lesser good than God. Our will can be directed freely depending on our choice.

Heaven, which is living in harmony with God and thus experiencing the greatest possible good, is the end goal of our life. Our will has achieved its basic purpose. Nothing more is needed when we are in the presence of God, i.e., when we are face to Face with the living Creator.

So why can’t we be face to face with the creator now? What is so special about dying?
