Humans put the bible together?

I would like some help on how to explain this question to people. I have been told that the bible was written and put together by humans and how do we know that some books were favored over others to be put in the bible by the church.

I would appreciate some (name removed by moderator)ut.

The books that were favored had to be proven to be inspired. Proving inspiration was a long and complicated process. It took 4 Councils and as many centuries to compile all the books of the Bible. The Church did not make a book inspired, she proved it was inspired mainly by measuring it against Apostolic Teaching. God inspired human beings to write the books of the Bible, but human beings had to do the work compiling the books.

Pope Damascus at the Council of Rome 382 AD decreed the 73 book canon we have today?

Books were chosen that did not contradict oral tradition. Tradition wether written or spoken is the word of God.

The Holy Spirit protected the Church from error.

Those who actually wrote the books of the Bible did so under the inspiration of God.
