Humpback whale spotted in NY harbor

I love orca whales. They are beautiful. I’ve never seen one in the wild.

Sadly I did see a captive one years ago at Miami Seaquarium.

They should not be kept like that. They are animals that live in complicated societal pods. Living in pool isn’t the way they were meant to be.

Yeah, I went to Sea World once. Never could bring myself to go back.
 
I’ve never gotten to see a whale in person. On my honeymoon in Alaska, we tried to go whale watching, but it was the wrong time seasonally.
 
I went whale watching many years ago. We didn’t see any larger whales. We did see lots of dolphins.
 
Did you know that orcas are biologically just large dolphins?
 
Hope it doesn’t get Covid, doesn’t he know there’s a travel restriction?
 
The biggest danger is ship traffic, but he should be okay. (I sometimes look at the traffic on the river, and it’s usually pretty light. A ferry here, a tugboat there.)
