Hurt by "Traditionalists"

I recently went to a site called “allmonks.com”. And was extremely hurt by their so called traditionalist views. They call the pope “antipope” as if he was illegitimate and only popes pre Vatican ii are legitimate. It just hurt me so much. Same with “mostholyfamilymonastery.com”. Who are these people and what is their purpose?

I pray that they stop with all the hate and God forgives them.

These groups are not members of the official Catholic Church, they’re a heretical offshoot (like Women Priest Ministries) called Sedevacantists (literally “Vacant seat”, in reference to the Papal throne). They believe that Vatican II was not a council guided by the holy spirit and that most changes that took place there are modernist heresies, have changed church teaching and are not Catholic.

Because of that, they don’t think any Pope proclaimed since Pope Pius X has been valid (John XXIII is deemed heretic for calling Vatican II) since he leads a heretical order and to be the true Pope, he must return to the status quo prior to Vatican II.

Just ignore them, do you care that Mormon scriptures say the Catholic Church is an abomination in Gods sight? This is the same more or less, these ones just call themselves Catholic.

As another noted above, these sites are not official Catholic teaching and not all “Traditionalists” would ally with them. Every religion has its fundamentalists and their screed, you’ve just met ours. I’m sorry you had to stumble upon them.

What if they don’t lean the same as you politcally? Then they are heretics? What about Catholics using ABC? Will you allow them the same grace?

Allmonks.com is an interesting website. I looked all over it and could not find anywhere where a leader was identified. No physical address, no P.O. Box, no phone or fax number. There is a link to “Donate” your money or purchase their product. No where do they identify themselves as a non for profit.

This is just a scam. It is unfortunate but there is apparently a large market to sell their stuff. They hit on every topic available. The only thing I didn’t see was Big Foot. They did have aliens and UFOs. If it weren’t so sad they were taking peoples money it would be funny.

I’m not a moderator, but maybe one can step in here, but I was under the impression that any discussion about sedevacantism was against the rules here at Catholic Answers Forums.

I’m sorry you felt hurt O.P. Lots of people, even within the church have differing opinions. I’ve heard just the same rhetoric about the pope from Protestants and non-Christians. I would not call it ‘hate’ though.

I agree! But how do you get to the truth? Maybe these people are trying to get to the truth, but just missing the mark. I disagree with them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are hateful. Maybe they’re just wrong.

I didn’t say they were hateful. If one truly wants to find the TRUTH, they will seek it. And pray for the Grace of the Holy Spirit to guide them. Many have done just that and found themselves in the Catholic Church where they “least” expected to find it. Jesus said, “I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE, follow ME.” Jesus founded the Catholic Church and in spite of all the persecutions, (from within as well as without) it has survived as the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church for 2,000 years. It will be here to guide us in the TRUTH till the end of time. God Bless, Memaw
