We actually have attended a Retrouvaille weekend and the most telling thing about that was that when we got to the conflict follow up session- things blew up and for me it was like getting burned by the fire… I constantly live in fear of triggering that again. He’s never hit me or anything like that but once you hit a sensitive spot in him he explodes and there is no rationalization in sight at that point. We do have the option of going back to any of those follow up weekends, and it’s worth revisiting. I just haven’t had the emotional bandwidth. I’ve been focused on attending counseling for myself and spending more time in spiritual exercises; I haven’t get the nudge to revisit the Retrouvaille content- until now.
