By Matthew Cullinan HoffmanSANTIAGO, February 17, 2009 (LifeSitenNews.com) - In a story that stands in stark contrast to the Eluana Englaro and Terri Schiavo cases in Italy and the United States, a Chilean man has been visiting his comatose wife for 17 years, and says he won’t give up on…

Good for him. That’s what we’re supposed to do for our family members if we reasonably can. He’s living proof that it’s not inevitable for family members to kill one another, or even ignore one another.

What a wonderful man who obviously took his vows seriously.

Reminds me of my parents, when my father was dying, one of the people in my family became concerned about my mother, as she wasn’t very young herself then. They asked her what was she going to do if she herself became ill. She said, “Then I would crawl on my hands and knees to take care of him!” (Thankfully it didn’t come to that.)

Isn’t that last paragraph in that article a sin and a shame?!

Boy, what a sacrifice! That’s what I call a real Godly man. I don’t think I could do that…

Now that’s what I call a true man dedicated to his vows of marriage. The only thing I would hope doesn’t happen is this:

The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord; but the married man is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried woman or girl is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit; but the married woman is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please her husband. I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord." (1 Corinthians 7:33-35)

Let’s pray that he doesn’t focus on his wife too much so as to not focus on God.
