Husbands, wives: What's Your Chore List?

(name removed by moderator)sired by another thread recently, I’m curious to know how the chore breakdown looks in other catholic families. List who does the following chores. M=man W=woman B=50/50 H=hired help. Be honest. Only select B if it really is about 50/50. If she does it 70%, pick W. Answers for me are in parentheses.

We have a few rules for fairness. Whoever cooks doesn’t do dishes. Nothing is ALWAYS done by one, except 3 and 8. (She has allergies and I’m at work.) Tends to avoid taking things for granted.

  13. Chauffer kids to activities (M)
  14. Lite projects (paint, put up curtains, hang pictures) (M, DS)

This is how it was when the kids were young. The ‘kids’ bath themselves now…and drive themselves around. I hope they are taking care of themselves.

He is also a devout Catholic, does our car repairs, plays piano and teaches 7th grade CCD!

Oh yeah, and when I had surgery and could not bend for weeks - he shaved my legs for me.

I’d not trade him for anything 🙂

You are truly blessed.

The day after I got home from the hospital after having DS (Csection) and nursing through the night. Asked DH what about breakfast. He says oh I had coffee. And here I cannot pull myself off the bed ( hospital bed rails were great) and he does not even bother to get me something.
 
Right now, I do it all (or my hired cleaning lady) since hubby is deployed! 😃 But prior to him leaving…

Hey! No wonder I needed a cleaning lady. I could barely keep up before he left, now add the job of the floors, laundry, and trash :eek: Thank you for justifying having her 😃
 
We don’t work this way and never have. We just do what needs doing when it needs doing.

Now there are a few things that either he or I just do.

For example, in the 12 years that we’ve had cat(s), which I’ll admit are more mine than anyones, I have never scooped the kitty litterbox more than maybe twice. My dh has always done this, mostly because I’m pregnant on a regular basis. (Nice to have a little perk for that isn’t it?😉 )

Then there’s organizing/switching out seasonal clothes, which my dh would really not think about at all until it snowed and there weren’t any coats or sweaters for the kids to wear in the closet - so I always do that and make a list of what kids need what clothes for the next season.

Day to day stuff, we do as we go. Usually together or me and the kids do it as maintence during the day.
 
Ours doesn’t break down like that list. Pretty much everything is split 50/50, with the exception of yardwork, because of my allergies/asthma. If something needs done, someone does it.
