Mel’s dad has a pretty cool website.
huttongibson.com/

When you first go to the website you will see the cross. Then sit back and think of the return of tradition as you hear the thunder!.

This really should be in the Non-Catholic religions forum, as sedevacantism (which the Gibsons are) is neither traditional nor Catholic.

Most sedevacantists believe they are preserving the fullness of the faith. Pray for them.

He may be a sedevacantist conspiracy theorist :whacky: :hypno: :yukonjoe: :takeoff: :slapfight: but he is a WWII vet and has 10 children and 48 grandchildren (according to his website.) So he does have some virtues.🙂

Prayers are being offered for his return to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

**I’m not saying he’s a nasty man.

I’m merely saying that sedvacantism is neither traditional nor Catholic, and he’s definitely gone astray in embracing this.**

To post this link in this fora is setting a stumbling block before the innocent.

Actually sedevacantists are both traditional and Catholic–why would you say they are not? I don’t agree with the sedevacantist position and they are schismatic–but their religion is definitely Catholic.

Aren’t you Eastern Orthodox anyway? Who are you to say he has gone astray? Your religion went astray a thousand years ago and is still out of communion with Christ and His Vicar on earth, Pope Benedict XVI.

I was just trying to find a silver lining in his kooky views.

How can they be Catholic when they do not recognize the pope?
They recognize the papacy and accept all points of Catholic dogma. They just err because, for various reasons, they believe the last few popes have been false claimants to the papacy. It is a point of Catholic dogma that the Pope is the Vicar of Jesus Christ on earth and infallible when speaking ex cathedra–it is not a dogma that Benedict XVI is the Pope. I am not defending sedevacantism, but it is incorrect to say that they are non-Catholic.

Dig into their “various reasons” and you will see that sedes are closet modernists. They lack the humility to recognize that maybe their wold-view is not big enough for the universal Church.

I think you need to read my signature.

Yes, it IS necessary for every creature to be subject to the Roman pontiff for salvation…but it does appear to many of us traditional-minded Catholics that our most recent popes have practically denied the doctrine of Outside the Church is no salvation. No wonder the sedes are so confused!

During certain periods of the Church’s history when there were two or three men claiming to be the Pope at the same time, there were saints who mistakenly followed the anti-pope instead of the real pope, yet we still recognize them as saints.

What exactly do you mean by this??

**Which shows how much (or little) you know about me, Psalter.

I AM in visible communion with Pope Benedict. Hutton and Mel are not.**

The beliefs of the Sede Vacantists is closer to Catholic than any other Christian community in the world, yet they get the least tolerance from Catholics. It is interesting that they do not believe in the false ecumenism of Vatican 2, that same ecumenical spirit that you are not showing them.

It seems that it is our day to be invaded by those who object to the Council and the post conciliar popes.

One difference is that the sedevacantists are generally former Catholics who should know better and are thus formal schismatics/heretics, while the rest of the Christian world was generally brought up in innocent error and are thus only guilty of material heresy.

This is absurd! Basil is of one of the Eastern sub juris Churches, in complete union with the Holy Father!

You need to seriously learn more about your faith!
