If anyone has the knowledge of the GIRM and whatever relevant documents and the like to answer this for me, I’d appreciate it.
In an EF High Mass, I know there are the Gregorian chant propers. In an NO Mass these can be replaced with a suitable hymn. Is such an alteration possible with the EF Mass? Such as, if a priest wanted a processional hymn in lieu of the proper Introit. I could be mistaken, but when I attended an EF High Mass in another state during Christmas time, they sang Angels We Have Heard on High or something like that.
Also, at the EF Mass I usually attend, there is a hymn only at the end, perhaps akin to the Recession hymn of an NO Mass. Is this the norm?
Thanks
