Racism sells. Hot button topic. Victimhood is more than a mindset, it is now a class, as in “class-action lawsuit.” I can show where my ancestors were invaded by a colonizing power, conquered, tortured, raped, killed, forced to adopt the language and customs of the invaders and placed under the invaders’ laws and political power. Sounds totally unfair. I need reparations!

BTW, I’m Scotch-Irish.
If you haven’t already done so, read ‘The Lion in the North’, by John Prebble. Excellent account of Scotland’s history.

she said either one was ok.
Being Scots-Irish myself I must respectfully disagree. But then, the two of them have had bloody battles over the correct spelling of whisky / whiskey. LOL

For my part - I realize that Scotland became a land attatched to England many moons ago. But prior to that it was a wild and terrible place made up of survivors of invading variety or those who explored to resettle from the land of Celtic tribes. This DNA is shared. Personal ancestry, recorded not purchased from the services of “find your ancestors” reveal time enough in Scotland to have at least one child but Eire was the source - the O’Ferghail Clan. It was "O’Farrell and then “Farrell” - the first name “Owen” passed on every generation.
Irish-Catholic was no stranger to identity insult and flat out hostility. There is a good reason for being called “The Fighting Irish”!
Its all due to the human condition of “who has the gold makes the rules” from “Murphy’s Laws”! The gold has a way of its own to change who has it! Racism is an attack on a perceived threat and is sneaky and cowardly - courage and love have no room for it and will put it down. False claims of racism to create turmoil and power grabbing must be exposed as soon as it rears its ugly head.

How about not hanging anyone for a lamb or less.
I try to consider things on a case-by-case basis. Having said that, I’ve also witnessed people being utterly oblivious to how the things they do and say seem to their audience. Intention isn’t really everything, not when someone tries to tell you how they experience a situation and you presume to tell them that it is they who ought to feel differently rather than you who ought to act with the sensitivity that your loss of well-intentioned ignorance of their point of view ought to prompt you to do.

Plus if people are constantly unfairly told they are racists, eventually they will throw up their hands and figure what’s the use of trying, for no matter what they do someone will come along and say they are racists.
Very very very much this.

People will first try desperately to prove they’re not racist.
But when they finally understand they’re being set up to fail, they’ll throw up their hands and say “fine, whatever, you win”.

Which will then leave the accused in a more powerful position, because they no longer give a crap what the accusers say.
