Hmm from what it seems to come down to, is this. The pill or at least one kind of the pill is designed to both prevent ovulation and implantation. However there is no actual documented occurance of it preventing implantation. However this does not mean it has never happened, because it;s not like they can talk and examine every single woman on birth control with a active sex life 24/7 Also I wonder…if the preventing implantation thing just doesn;t work and that is where the “oppsies” on birth control come from? 🤷

I would assume it has a certain failure rate, as all contraceptive methods do. The human body shows a staggering desire to fight for its fertility.

We can deduce that combination oral contraceptives (COCs) containing additional chemicals to manipulate the endometrial lining of the uterus have failure rates because the FDA has had opportunities to rule that these COCs cause severe birth defects.

Interestingly, although this could be due to the spermicide and the synthetic estrogen, I wonder if it also has anything to do with making the endometrial layer hostile to the new human. If the human cannot connect properly, the flow of nutrition and oxygen can be severely reduced, resulting in serious deformation, organ damage, reduced growth of the brain and retardation, stillbirth, etc.

Sure, natural miscarriages happen all the time.
But those aren’t caused by taking deliberate steps for the pregnancy to never exist in the first place.

Can you reference your information with links?
I provided the documentation that says the pill “reduces the likelihood of implantation” (written by the pill manufacturer directly)…
Please provide references for your information.
A statement by others is not a proof. In over 40 years there are zero cases documented. Read medical reports on the subject.
Ahh, you are both right?

What TR is trying to say is… although the pill mfg says that is how it works, no one has witnessed it. Or at least it is not documented that it was witnessed. Now I know there are a lot of things we take for granted that happen without ever seeing them. And that can be it’s own can of worms. There is a difference in saying how something works and if it actually does… now where is my foil hat again?

From my perspective, it doesn’t matter. From what I’ve read, it’s something the pro-lifers hang on because it’s easier to argue against abortion rather than contraceptive use in the first place. Once we go there, we’re trapped in “their” game.

Unless we can properly convey the message about TOB, we’ll constantly be drug into arguing details, not purposes.

So true!! I was just in a discussion recently on the topic. I think TOB kept it right where it needed to be.

But oh the discussions without it! :banghead:
