Hi All,

I recently listened to a priest teaching on the Thinity. I it he said that because Jesus’ human nature is finite that His human mind will spend all eternity contenplating His diving nature, but never fully comprehending itm. Your thoughts?

I have never heard of this before. From my understanding of the hypostatic union, there wouldnt be two minds because that would mean there are two persons who could be in disagreement. There is one person, one entity with two natures. There is the divine mind of God who is joined to a human body with a human nature. It is like our souls joined to a body. But im not positive if this is the right way to put it, so correct me if I’m wrong.

I have never heard of that, either. I have read things like ‘His human mind is finite, while His divine mind is infinite’, but that also sounds like two minds to me. Quite a mystery.

Definitely Intriguing! I sure would appreciate listening to the understanding!

I agree. That is why it is said that as soon as the Incarnation took place Christ’s human personality was immediately absorbed by His Divine Personality. Otherwise you would have a problem of two persons, which is heresy.

This is something I never heard or thought about. This concept sounds like it came from someone who is too smart for their own good. I would say that Christ, being fully man and fully God, had a Divine mind using a human brain. Kind of like no matter what plane the president of the US is on becomes Air Force One, it is not the plane that is special, but what is contained within.

Hello Bill and Heuchler – 12 July 2011
Glad to meet you. Let me share with you.

Jesus is One Divine Person, the Second Divine Person of the Trinity. And God became a real and complete human nature in the Incarnation. Scripture tells us that God “became like to us in all things except [personal] sin.”

That real and complete human nature has a real human intellect and a real free human will … and all the emotions that you and I have. There is also the Divine Intellect and the Divine Eternal Will.
Code:
And we must consider what Jesus’ human intellect knew .. in distinction from what the Divine Intellect Knows. Remember the Scriptural statement .. “And Jesus advanced and grew in wisdom, age, and grace before God and Man.”

The **CCC** (Catechism of the Catholc Church) will be of very great help here, sections 471 through 478.

I’d be happy to share more with you if you wish. John (JohnJFarren)
