I have a final hypothesis, after all my meditation:
The eight days of creation and the eight kings of the beast are NOT arbitrary, that given a physical world that falls in the beginning, if God is to be able to draw the greatest possible spiritual good from the fall, then the ages of salvation are predetermined by God’s wisdom to be eight, and only eight, with seven substages in the Illuminative way of the NT Cov.
The necessary stages would always be five before coming of the Incarnate One
the first two of the five OT stages are preeminent and worldwide:
I. Anti-Baptism and the Flood
II. Anti-Marriage and the Language Confounding and Abraham
The remaining three stages of the OT are the three ways of the saint applied to the Jews, God’s First People:
Purgative Way
Illuminative Way
Unitive way
The three ages of the Church are the same as the Jews, the way of the Saint:
Purgative
Illuminative
Unitive
The Illuminative way of the NT Cov has seven necessary substages:
I. Screw Trinity and Incarnation paritally
II. Screw Trinity and Incarnation fully (Islam)
III. Screw Peter (great schism)
IV. It’s good to be the bishop (scandal)
V. Screw the bishops and Oral Trad (Protestantism)
VI. Screw the Scriptures and all Divine Revelation (Enlightenment)
VII. Screw Reason (intermediate secular apostasy)
So I am making an incredibly bold claim: in ANY world that God would redeem, the path above is the ONLY possible way for God to achieve the greatest possible spiritual good, given the nature of the fall.
Therefore the seven days of creation, the seven heads of the beast, and the seven notes in a key of music convey the same mystery: history is predetermined once humanity falls to be eight total stages, from the fall to the New Creation inclusive.
