Hypothetical election please vote

I’ve seen a lot of discussion about which issues are more important to catholics when voting.

Please feel free to add any reasoning behind your ‘vote’.
 
I do not know about Catholics, but I do support government programs that will fund research which will hopefully end the slaughter of 100,000 people per day.

I think that is pro-life.
 
There are not enough variations above to really make it valid. Each breakdown should have its own pro/con option.

If it is Independent, the last option is set up incorrectly, as many Independents/Libertarians would think that marriage is each to their own and not have a problem with same-gender people getting married.

Not for that office. I’d still vote on other issues on the ballot. Not only that, there are a lot more choices available on the ballot than that, especially here in California.
 
Just curious, but what to Pro-Iraq War mean?

Does it mean they were in favor of invading and are now in favor of staying?

Does it mean they had reservations about invading and now are in favor of staying?

Does Anti-Iraq war mean they didn’t favor going in and now want to pull out now?

Does Anti-Iraq War mean they want to pull out now?

According to our Bishops and our Pope, the time to discuss the morality of going into Iraq is long past. But the only moral way to exit Iraq is AFTER we stabilize it so that a new government can maintain stability for the citizens. Basically our church seems to advocate a “we broke it we bought it” policy.
 
Impossible to vote, as I am pro some things and anti other, all listed in the same option.
 
I have to ask for one more clarification. As a good Catholic, I follow and believe in the Church teaching that EMBRYONIC stem cell research is evil. I also follow and believe the church teaching that ADULT stem cell research is perfectly moral and acceptable. However, the poll question simply asks about STEM CELL research but does not differentiate between the two different types.

Is the poll asking, with regards to candidate A, that he opposes ALL TYPES of stem cell research?

By the way, just for review, the Church teaches us that Abortion, Same Sex Marriage, Euthanasia, EMBRYONIC Stem Cell Research and Human Cloning are non-negotiable issues (LIFE ISSUES) and we can never support those things. Issues like the Iraq War and the Patriot Act are ‘social justice’ issues which are considered to be of lower importance. The Church also teaches that we must not fall prey to ‘moral relativism’ where we raise social issues to the same level of importance as life issues.
 
None of the above. I don’t find the Iraq War as being prolife so I couldn’t vote for any of these candidates.

Simple. I would write myself in as an option and vote for myself over these candidates. That way I am denying any of them my vote and still doing my civic duty.

I fulfill all of the options but am opposed to the war. Therefore I am voting my conscience for the candidate that best suits my desires. My “catholic” duty would not require me to vote for a prowar candidate.
 
Does ‘Pro-life’ mean that they’re actually going to pass a law against abortion, or just that they oppose abortion, but can’t really do anything about restricting it?

None of the above for me, since I would choose Ron Paul, a pro-life Republican who is against the war in Iraq.

You said these were hypothetical. So I would do as Mother Angelica said she once did and write in “Jesus” as her vote.

I did abstain from voting in 2004, as I could not in good conscience vote for either candidate.

And if I have to choose only among these three I will sit out the next election as well. I just don’t believe sending our men off to die in an unnecessary war is very prolife.
