Hypothetical Question: What will you do if the Catholic Church accepts gay "marriage"?

Most Catholics, even ones that go to Church accept this.<<
I doubt very much this is the view of most church-going Catholics. I also doubt very much that the Church would ever change it’s position on such a fundamental teaching. The Holy Spirit wouldn’t allow it.

Oh and regarding the question of what would I do…I would pack my bags and move to Portugal!!!:D:D:)

Hypothetical it is.

In the same way as mathematicians developing a square circle or an even prime number.

I would consider the Catholic Church to be hypocritical to its own belief system if she started actually marrying same gender couples. I don’t think I would “do” anything. I would be perplexed.

I would not consider it to be hypocritical (and would support) not getting involved in non-Catholics decisions to do so. Non-Catholics have second marriages, for example, which is clearly against Biblical direction, and we do not have this same out rage. I would like to see the Catholic church have the same attitude towards same gender “marriages” outside the Catholic Church in the same manner that she currently has towards other religions/denominations towards second “marriages”

Christ gave Peter the power to loose and bind whatever…so maybe hypothetically some might say the Pope could change whatever he wished…BUT…the Catholic Church is also guided in all truth by the Holy Spirit…so in reality it will not and cannot ever happen

I don’t mean to hurt anyone by asking this. The way I see it is, it is most likely going to happen. The gay mafia is actively working on making sure it will happen. Most Catholics, even ones that go to Church accept this. We are already seeing increasing hostility to anyone who says that marriage is only between a man and a woman.

The Catholic Church is their ultimate goal. It is against everything they want and they will relish only if they destroy her.

Not gonna happen.
It might become legal in the eyes of the government, but that’s a different matter.

lol this is like trying to imagine a square pentagon. It isn’t possible.

It is not possible.

PS–I do think, tho, that the church might change their views and decision on female priests in the future.
Yeah…when pigs fly! I’ll let you in on a little secret DaddyGirl. The Church has about as much of a chance of reversing her position on women priests, as she does on so-called same sex marriage…and you can take that one to the bank.

Peace, Mark

There are some major defections calling themselves “Catholic” Churches, churches that are changing their views on divorce, homosexuality, sex outside of marriage, the definition and meaning of marriage, and women taking on the role of priests. Rome is not going to follow them. Heaven forbid that she ever would.

I don’t see it ever happening, however in the unlikely event that something like this did happen…

Would this possibly be part of the “great falling away” that is talked about in scripture… if so, I would be looking at other signs that may signal that we are closer to the coming of Christ.

There will ALWAYS be a remnant of conservative, scripture following, traditional groups of believers. I can’t see the LCMS EVER going along with this teaching. IF they disappointed me… then you may see me converting to Orthodox.

:rolleyes:Like it accepts artificial birth control? You do know the church still says artificial birth control is immoral long after every one else jumped on the artificial birth control band wagon. Accepting gay marriage? Not.going.to.happen. It would no longer be the Catholic Church. Accepting gays -totally different question.(See link) vimeo.com/93079367
