she should have time to recover completely from the surgery and then the couple can resume normal relations, assuming there are no other medical problems. If the surgery was to treat a medical condition the fact that she is now sterile does not have any moral relevance with regard to the marriage act. If the surgery was for the sole purpose of sterilization to avoid pregnancy, she should confess it and take her priest’s advice.
