Is it untruthful to try to demonstrate that even if what his biggest fear were somehow to happen, it isn’t that bad?
Think about what you’re asking, then think about the results of that…

First, I would recommend that you understand that you are a teenager. You are influenced by the world around you, we all are I think, adults are just more aware of this fact. So you have to fight this terrible materialistic world we live in that goes against God. I would recommend:
  1. Do Catholic activities with others as much as possible-
    • Find an active parish that has activities for teenagers.
    • pray that rosary with others if possible.
  2. Educate yourself.
-Download the phone app Relevant Radio, and listen to Patrick Madrid in the morning.
    • download the app, Catholic Answers and listen to the audio of that as well
    • read St Augustine Confessions translated by John K Ryan
    • read The Little flowers of Assisi
  3. Do Catholic works of charity.
    • feed the homeless
    • join activities that help those that are less fortunate.
  4. Last recommendation is the hardest to explain. Try to see God as if he is a piece of your heart. That if you lost your faith that you would be losing yourself. That you would rather die than lose God and your faith. God bless you. And keep fighting the devil and his temptations

I’m 17 and had similar thoughts then and now
Life got very very righ for me last year

I don’t have trouble believing in life after death

But I do feel like I can’t pray right and that I’m distant

What I try (and usually fail) to do is pray so much that it starts working
Like starting a lawn mower

Sometimes it’s best just to decide and act in faith. You’ll never have proof of God’s existence in this life. So much energy can be lost to the grand projects of skepticism when all that’s require is a tiny bit of faith and living your life.

Agree that you should keep praying. No need to increase; just keep up your routine.

Feeling like God does not hear is called “spiritual dryness.” It is a periodic part of most prayer lives. God is still close, but He is staying quiet, standing back, and letting you “exercise” your virtues on your own. Of course everything seems hard.

You should feel flattered. It is a sign that you have progressed. And that God is a tough coach. 🙂

Spiritual dryness can last a while, before it goes away. That is why routine helps.

I don’t have any relations with Catholics since my family are baptist and I’m not catholic cause of this , so doing activity at a church near me wouldn’t happened . I try to pray the rosary 3 times a week at least trying to work my way up to daily . I thank you for comment though

A lot of your doubts may have to do with you persona limage or understanding of God, what God is like. This is something that could evolve all your life as you gain more experience, study and insight. What Kind of God could you belive in right now?

Until you get that driver’s license (in one year) I suggest the other advice I mentioned. Relevant Radio phone app, Catholic Answers phone app, Reading the book Little Flowers of Assisi, etc. Also, keep trying to BE a Catholic in actions around you. The year should pass quickly enough for you I think. 😉

You’ll never have proof of God’s existence in this life.
Some people see “proof” at least in their eyes… Some event that could not be explained except by GOD! It does take time though. At least it did for me. Now, for St. Paul… not so long…

Kandi, I’m praying for you and all our young people. This life is hard and lots of worldly situations are being presented to you on a daily basis. I"m praying that Jesus wraps his arms around you and leads you and guides you through the rough paths. In many ways life is NOT fair. Just keep your eyes on Jesus. Love God first and love your neighbor as yourself and you will be ok.

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
✝️

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amoung women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, NOW and AT THE HOUR of OUR DEATH. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, Oh Prince Of the Heavenly Host,
By the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl
About the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

I feel like abandoning my Idea of join the Catholic Church one day I feel like I’m wasting my time and there is no god , im starting to lean towards atheism
Spend a little time each day reading the Gospels, or download an audio version and listen to it for 15-20 minutes a day.

I grew up Catholic, but never really tried to grow my faith. Surprisingly I was around your age when I started to look for more in my faith, my primary purpose at first was for comfort because I was in a depressed state and wanted happiness. I went to mass one Sunday that really kept my faith from withering out, it was about how some people who enter the Church seek things like happiness and get dissapointed when it seems like God doesn’t give them happiness even when they might be practicing. The Priest went on to explain how faith is always loving God no matter if we are on top or suffering so low, for faith will stay with us if we continue to feed our hunger for God’s teachings and bring it into our lives. Many people over history died for the faith in the Lord and they sure weren’t as happy when being put to death, but they saw faith more than just for their own benifets here in this world. It was an eye opener for me, for I was putting my faith in finding only happiness at the time. My faith is still growing and yeah Im imperfect I still battle with sadness, I sin, and things may not always go my way, but for why should I hinder my faith because I can’t get direct answers or for anything to go the way I want them to. God works in mysterious ways, stay with him for if you desire to seek him, he will enter your house and bless you. May not be the way we would expect or see.

I know we have different scenarios and I never really had the doubt of there being no God, but I hope sharing the story would bring more urge to continue with faith and let God be with you no matter if we are on top of the world or suffering on the bottom. We may not hear him directly or see the ways he enters our life, especially in bad times, but God brought us good news so that we may put faith above anything that could ever take that away. Even if our faith can be so little at times, if we follow and believe we can move mountains and surely have enternal life with our Father. You will be in my prayers, God loves all.

I find that these dark nights of the soul come about, ironically, any time I start to grow a lot closer to God. (If I could record the data for all Catholics, my hypothesis would be that they occur quite a bit during Lent). I see them as an unpleasant part of the natural cycle of being Christian.

The hopeful news: In my experience, they often precede something godly and wonderful, much like how the air is always coldest just before the sun rises.

I can tell just by reading your post that you’re likely a deeper thinker than your teenage peers. Sometimes that can make it hard to connect with others. But it is also a gift.

I hope this article brings you some encouragement. Wrestling with God leads to truth

Thank you for reaching out to us. Many prayers to you!

Its easy to question faith. If you haven’t experienced the power of the holy spirit.
1 cor. 2. Paul came with the power of the supernatural.
Not just words.
It makes a difference.
1cor. 14:25-26. Describes this also

I feel like my skepticism comes from a lot of stuff such as social media and other stuff like that .
Lent is a very good time to fast from social media, and in general, cut back on exposure to it. Spend the time growing your spirit as @steve_b has outlined above. We are what we eat, and if you are feeding your spirit things that are nourishing you will grow!
But I do feel like I can’t pray right and that I’m distant
Everyone experiences this at one time or another. At such times, it is good to pray the scriptures, like the Liturgy of the Hours. You can also be boosted knowing that there are many people all over the world praying with you, so it feels more communal.

My iphone app tells me how many people are also praying the Office when I am online!

Just creating a subscription to this thread.

PS: Oh, I see I have it bookmarked; I hadn’t ever done that before. It used to be that you would subscribe to a thread, but now we bookmark them, or at least we bookmark to posts.

Click on the three horizontal dots and then click on the ribbon-looking thing that appears. That vaguely ribbon-looking thing is a bookmark. If you then click on your avatar (I guess just the white B in the green background in your case) up in the upper right corner of the page, and then click on your name in the drop down menu that appears, you should see the word Bookmarks in a vertical list of stuff you can do on the left hand side. Click on that and a list of things you have bookmarked should appear. If you haven’t bookmarked anything, you won’t get anything, but if you bookmark this post, you should see it come up as your first bookmark. 🙂

By the way, the bookmark of my post will appear somewhat abbreviated. If you click on the blue thread title, you will come back to this thread. If you look just to the right of the blue thread title on the bookmark, you will see a downwards pointing v. If you click on that, you will see my full post in all of its considerable glory. 🙂

Now, the last thing: if when you click on your avatar in the upper right hand corner of the page, you then click on the ribbon-looking thing out of the three things to the right, you will be taken directly to the abbreviated looking bookmark in your dashboard, and then you can proceed as above. 🙂
