Hi, when I go to confession it’ll be my very first time. I’m not baptized and I’m currently taking RCIA. It could be months before there’s confession again because of coronavirus,

Should I say out my sins for each day of the months? What if it is long? Do I condense it? Like by saying “I engaged in gluttonous acts countless times” How king does confession take? What’s too long? Thanks

If you’re not baptized you will be forgiven when you are baptized. It washes away all sin.

If you want to repent now, you don’t need to say it out loud like you’re confessing to a priest. God knows all. All you need to do is tell God you’re sorry for what you’ve done. Perform a perfect act of contrition.

What if I’m afraid my contrition is not perfect? I so want to do right and be the best God can make me to be. Thank you.

Please talk this over with your Priest, OP. Email him, right now if you can.

And talk to a health professional about your OCD, as soon as possible. Posting on CAF won’t help; it may actually make your OCD worse because you’re relying on strangers rather than health professionals and a Priest, who know you and are best placed to help you.

Perfect contrition is about being sorry for your sins because of Christ’s love for you - the love the led him to sacrifice himself for you - rather than being sorry out of fear of punishment. It’s not about being “perfect” in the sense of flawless.

Perfect contrition is very difficult for all of us. But we try.

You are certainly on the right path to being a good Catholic. We all sin, even the Holy Father. We are imperfect humans . We reconcile with God in the Sacrament of Reconcilliation
