Hi,

we went to another church today and i had to go to confession. The priest sounded like he was a little choppy in the english language (fillipino), and at the end said only

“i absolve you”

What your take on this?

I think we have to be careful not to think that the sacraments contain ‘spells’ that have to be said in word by word specific ways.

well, the proper form is:
**I absolve you from all censures and from your sins; in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
