Those of you who bother to read signatures will ahve noted that I attend both Eastern and Western Catholic churches. I love them both, and have no conflict whatsoever:thumbsup:

And now I have solid proof as to how far I have come to be accepted in the Eastern Church. Today I received my box of envelopes for my weekly contribution :dancing:

Truly there is no greater love from a parish than a new box of envelopes for the coming year!

Merry Christmas! Christos Razdajetsja!

We should be picking up our new ones next Sunday. Also don’t forget to have the priest come to bless your house. Fr Paul makes sure we are the last home of the day so we can have supper and discussion time. :D:D

I’m very happy you have found solid proof such as this.

To think if one had simply sent the envelope a bit quicker…

not clear on what is the differences between the two rights>
Er…“rites”. OK, the Eastern Catholic Churches base their liturgy more along the original Greek of the New Testament, rather then the Latin translation known as the vulgate. They retain many aspects of the Orthodox Churchesm whilst acknowledging the supremavy of the Pope in Rome. They cling to their traditionss, and Vatican II caused hardly a ripple. :highprayer:

I am not sure what book might help tp explain all this to you. Anybody reading this have aome books to suggest that explain the Eastern Catholic Churches?

Were there collection envelopes in 19th Century Russian?? Is outrage! 😉

My parish might have reached a major milestone if we get to the point where we have such envelopes…

The One Church and the Communion of Churches is available from Eastern Catholic Pastoral Association of Southern California, 1546 East La Palma Ave., Anaheim, Calif. 92805.

It gives a overview of the Eastern and Western Churches in only 32 pages. All particular churches are briefly described. Nicely illustrated with photographs, charts showing the development of Orthodox and Catholic churches and census data of current or estimated populations of Eastern and Western particular churches. This is a good introduction or refresher on how the diverse Eastern and Western churches developed from apostolic times.

At least they used the Latin alphabet, not the Cyrillic:blush:
