. Most of the people I see that cause slamming of brakes around here have their heads in the clouds, though, or dart out between cars into the road like you have X-ray vision.
A few years ago, after an accident, we saved a thousand dollars for the year by putting a monitor on my wife’s vehicle for a couple of months.

It also gave me an online list of every abrupt maneuver.

The overwhelming majority were while dropping the kids off in the high school parking lot.
I almost hit an Amish girl once.
A friend died is medical residency in Cleveland heights. Their ER had a regular custom of young amish boys on their wanderyahr (?) getting drunk and wrapping the buggy around a tree. I would have thought that the horses would have had more sense . . .

this has happened to me;

just slight moments of inattention or distraction while i am operating a 2,000 lb moving vehicle could’ve led to disaster

i would just say: pray often to your GUARDIAN ANGEL

I would agree that most of us have had something this frightening happen to us. It’s scary - I hate that wave of tension that seems to wash over you when you realize you just dodged a bullet and someone spared your insurance rates. And maybe more.

I still think there’s something to be said for Darwin’s theory of natural selection.
I know you’re trying to be funny, but one of my biggest fears is that my oldest child in particular will be struck by a car. He is incredibly smart but also really impulsive. When he was a toddler he used to try to get away from me in parking lots. I swallowed my pride and bought a child tether and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say it probably saved his life.

I am glad you were able to stop in time.
I was backing out of our long driveway the other afternoon. We live at the end of the road so I have to be careful when I back up there is not anyone backing out
of the other 5 driveways near our house.
I was concerned about the house where a number of children were playing as I couldn’t see them while backing up. I had made it out into the street and slowly backing around in order to pull forward when I caught a glimpse of something.
There is a long haired white guy riding his bike and rode right behind me as I was backing up! I know he did it intentionally!
If you are on a bike and see a car backing up, why not stop until you know the car has safely pulled forward out of your way? The next time I see him I am going to say something!

Say a prayer of Thank You to your Guardian Angel for interfervening … and to please keep working for you.

Sure, but there’s not really a moral question. Someone almost walked in front of your car. Thank God she didn’t. Hopefully she’s more careful in the future.

Not much else to say on it, really.

I do have some sort of angel medal - on my passenger side visor.
I will have to look at it today.
I’m pretty sure it says, with the image, don’t drive faster than your angel can fly “

Yes, you’re right. Not good to joke about. I’m less patient with persons of college age or older, though.
