I don’t understand how this could’ve driven you away from the Faith.
Yes I understand. The same question you ask my family asked over and over again. I honestly had some very telling dreams of Mary that scared the you know what out of me. Ever since I was a child I prayed the Rosary. My Grandfather and Grandmother (who raised me,) were very active in the church. I was baptised, and confirmed. I also made my first communion and confession. But I carry those dreams till this day.

I came to fellowship with Catholics to feel the true love that I have for you guys. I lost that. Does God hold me in better favor? Certainly not. I just feel I had to re-humanize you. You are great people with great families. You care for me. And I need to see that. And care for you.

In the name of Jesus.

Great answer!👍 Welcome aboard this crazy place. Glad to have you. (I spent a couple of years in exile in Winslow back in my high school days. Love Arizona.)

Next question: How do you like being a momma? (I’m a “Poppy” myself).
It was great. It was my wife’s Catholic family that has shown me a love that even my family couldn’t deliver. They should be how to really care for my young. I now cry when my kids are hurt.

The Catholic Church has been with us for almost 2000 years. There is a tremendous amount of good, deep, theological, philosophical, and spiritual material to explain why it is the one church built by Jesus Christ.

Did you take the time to read about the basics of this oldest institution on the planet?

Did you every wonder why it has not fallen?

Do you know why it never will fall?

Do you know what risks you are taking by rejecting it?
Yes according to some apologists, I face destruction due to my separation. I must walk by faith which is not always the easiest to do. I just need to get back to my first love which is you and everyone else. I’ve read much on the subject because we are advised to seek our salvation out with fear and trembling believe me, I do not want to roast…lol

I did not read the posts in front of your question.

My question is what are you now

And why did you post this?
I am just a follower of the teaching of Jesus the Messiah. I have no church. So yes I’m stubbornly separated from two belief systems. I post this because I need to see Catholics on how they really are: In love with their God and fearful of the Lord.

What does “This is my body” mean?
I know what context you believe that to be and I can’t slight you for that. For me, I believe that Jesus’s name is THE WORD OF GOD and those who eat from him will not hunger. But that’s just my belief. Not to get into an apologetic war with you. Lets enjoy each others fellowship.

Bless you Charlie!
PS that’s my dad’s name…

If you’re a former Catholic, why did you stop following Jesus, despite your screen name?

Thanks for asking Edyson. My fiance’ at the time had been in a horrible accident and was banged up pretty bad. We had a one year old son at the time and I had to be the sole provider for him for some time. I come from a traditional Catholic Hispanic family where the man o’ the house does his best to provide for his family but leaves much of the care of the little ones to the woman. I was scared out of my mind! I needed God’s help. I started reading the Catholic Bible on the mantle.

As for now I don’t belong to a church. It’s just me and the word. And Jesus who I can’t see or touch. The separation I feel from my family and the alienation are what hurt the most.

**Just you and the word, huh?

How does this fit with the infallible Word of God that says, “Let us not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some?”

And Jesus said, “Touch Me and see it is I Myself.”

And as it is also written, “O, taste and see that the Lord is good!”

None of this explains why your fiance’s accident steered you away from the simplicity of the Gospel to the “do your own thing” mystery of iniquity.**
Please don’t allow me to trip you up with contempt for me. I came to YOUR forum. I only mean love and respect. Sorry about the mystery of iniquity thing, but I have no mystery or anything to hide. I know you say what you say out of love where you want to shake the truth into somebody. I’m not offended.

How were you able to walk away from Jesus in the Holy Eucharist? (John 6)
Monica, according to what I believe, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father and will return on the 7th trump to step on his holy Mt. Zion. In Acts chapter 6 Saint Stephen preached a gem of sermon to his accusers before they killed him but one of his last words were,

48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

God Bless you Monica

Follow Yeshua,

Nothing in your story thus far begins to explain your decision to leave the Catholic Church.

Care to enlighten us?

Thanks,
Paul
It was a series of events dreams that led me to the scripture. Send me a message if you want to know what changed me. I don’t think your forum is the place to push anything but if you want to know I will tell you.

Follow Yeshua,

Oops. I guess I misread your OP and thought you were female.😊

I’m getting older (as we tend to do) and I may presume too much, but reading between the lines of your various posts I think I know where you are coming from in a general way.

I actually married twice (17 the first time) and fathered 6 children before I got a clue about being a man, a husband and a father but by the time the light began to dawn it was too late and my second ex booted me out the day after Christmas. Happy new year, eh? Anyway, it’s been a long journey now and I have ten children, 5 of whom are grown and married with kids of their own, and a great wife who is my best friend in the whole world. I partied away a lot of potential and a lot of opportunities and got sort of bitter about it for a while, until the light dawned again and I realized that I’d missed nothing but more time with my kids before they were off and running towards lives of their own. I’m nlessed.

I’m still relatively young to have lived such a full life— my sins have dashed me against the rocks, but Christ never gave up on me and has put me back together and restored the years that the worm had eaten, and now, I too break at the mere thought of my children and now grandchildren ever being as lost as I once was or having to experience the kind of brokenness that I’ve wallowed around in and feared I’d never recover from.

As a young man I had big dreams, but I failed and threw a lot of them away for a bowl of pottage. I’ve dealt with the devil and battled him (literally) since I was a small boy. I see now that all of it made me who I am. A father, a husband and a grandfather with more love for God and my family and neighbors than I ever could have conceived existed of on my own.

I can now boast of my weakness, because in my weakness Christ is strong. It almost sounds trite, unless you’d been the places I’ve been and seen the things I’ve seen and done the things I wished so often I could just bury deep away somewhere.

I’m really not sure why I rambled on so long, I just felt compelled to pour it out like maybe you needed to hear it as much as I need to own it. God IS Love! Love your family and your neighbor and you will always walk in His fellowship. God bless and keep you, brother.

All my best . . .

P.S. My mother died almost 5 years ago now, and we had moved her in to care for her towards the end of her life. We recovered a lot and forgave a lot during that time. She had always been the one constant who, along with Christ had never given up on me. When she was gone it was devastating to me, so much so that years later, after a particularly rough time I remember telling my wife how much I missed her and broke down. I remeber saying, “I want my mom.” Imagine, a grown man with grandchildren already, weeping and still needing his mom. It wasn’t long afterwards that Christ revealed the Truth of His Church to me and I began my real journey into the Church. Little did I realize when I cried out for my mom that night, that Christ would answer and present His own Mother to me as a gift. I still think my mother was praying for me and that wish was the broken prayer that my mother, and Christ’s Mother presented to Christ who had mercy and compassion on me yet again. 🙂

Just thought I’d share. PM anytime. I’d love to hear your personal story.

You sound like me 🙂

I just found out two weeks ago that I’m having my first grandchild…I’m only 36!

I guess that’s better than de-humanizing us 🤷

God bless
Yes you are so right. Believe me, if it was a 'Muslim that was being dehuminized, I would step in to intervene that is the worst a man can do to another man. I chose the wrong word. Throughout the years I lost sense in who the Catholic people were because of the testimony I have. You guys are my brother, sister, mom, neighbor, workmates etc. I just need to love you and be with you guys. I don’t know why.

I put the face of my objection on the very people who I came up with and for that I am wrong. I preach out of love. But my preaching is in prayer as you would pray for me.

I hope that makes sense.

I knew what you meant when you said it–I think. 🙂

Did you mean that you came here to put a human face on Catholicism again, for yourself? That you had lost touch with the fact that Catholics people, your Christian brothers?

Follow Yeshua, Thanks for visiting us here and giving us a chance to ask some questions.
The bible as we know it did not exist for nearly 400 years after Jesus. The Word of God was taught by the oral tradition of the Catholic Church and ultimately the Holy Spirit led the Catholic Church to compile the New Testament and present it to the world.
If you had been born in that time span before the New Testament was compiled, how would you know what to believe?

Yes there has been too many harsh words thrown back in forth on both camps. Allthough we cannot actively subscribe to all of each others beliefs, we can find common ground with Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Catholics are great people they are my friends and family.
Amen!

You are absolutely right. If it wasn’t for the church we wouldn’t have the word today. Also with that being said, I would of never had a spiritual compass or had my mind on finding God. The Church has been good to me.

Isaiah 40:8
8The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

I believe respectfully that who’s ever hands the word falls into, the word will go out. In my opinion many Catholics have died for that very word and also Catholics have persecuted for that word. Also protestants have commited atrocities for the word. Praise be to Jehovah that we are not them!

Well Follow Yeshua, you certainly are an agreeable person :). I know it is overwhelming to answer so many questions from so many of us when there is one of you - so I do thank you. To follow up more on my question,
You said “I have no church” but Jesus said he established a Church. He also said that the Church is the Pillar of Truth. We are also commanded to take our issues to The Church. I can provide scripture for these if you need, but I assume you know which I am referring to. So IF the has a Church it likely the one that gave the word the bible, i.e. the Catholic Church - so why estrange yourself from it?

I believe that Jesus’s name is THE WORD OF GOD
Jesus Christ is the Word made Flesh.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:14

God bless.
