Very good assessment brother I think John did get caught up in the moment and went overboard but I would think he would know better than to worship the creator rather than the creation. I think veneration and praise are the same thing. We praise our kids when they do good also I praise my wife when she pulls off a great dinner…lol…Follow Yeshua,
How’s it going brother? Hey, I posted this on another thread but I saw you were discussing the same verse so I thought I’d offer it up for your consideration (my apologies to Rod Serling there).
“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship (proskyneo) before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” (Rev. 3:9–Jesus speaking)
"And I John saw these things, and heard [them]. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship(proskyneo) before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Then saith he unto me, See [thou do it] not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship(proskyneo) God." (Rev. 22:8.9).
Why would Jesus say he would cause the liars in Revelation 3:9 to “worship” someone other than God, while the angel in 22:8.9 says do not “worship” (proskyneo–same word) any but God if there isn’t a difference between veneration and worship? What was the difference in what Jesus said He would cause the liars to do, and what John was attempting to do towards the angel? To my mind, there must be a difference between “worship” and veneration or else Jesus would not have told the Church that he would cause liars to “worship” before their feet, especially since it was Christ Himself that said so. I think John went overboard, which is why the angel said what he did.
All my best . . .
I’m very aware of Revelations 12 I was wondering when that will come up. You make valid arguments only time will tell if Mary is truly the Queen of heaven or the Return of the entity seducing Israel also named "Queen of Heaven as spoken of in Jeremiah 7 and 44.I’m not really sure what you’re trying to say, but since you mention John, who cared for Mary after the crucifixion until her death, let’s consider the fact that John references her in Revelation 12 as “a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars”.
As I stated in a previous post, Jesus is the king of kings, and Mary, His mother, is His Queen according to the custom of the Davidic kingdom.
Thoughts on honoring Mary now?
Why in the world would you do this? I mean, if you are attempting to teach others about the Catholic faith, then the Catholics here will do a much better job than you can. If you are here to defend the faith that you ultimately joined, you sort of need to tell us what that faith actually is, and then, y’know, actually defend that. You may pick my brain and ask anything you wish. I won’t bite I promise. I think its very important to learn about one another. If you have a family member that has left the Catholic Church I can give some insight on where he or she is coming from.
Thanks
Glory be to God that I don’t have to conform to your expectations. Why in the world would you do this? If you want to explain to everybody why Catholics leave the church, well…that isn’t going to be helpful either, since Catholics leave Catholicism for as many reasons as there are Catholics leaving Catholicism. I don’t think that faithful Catholics will find your (name removed by moderator)ut all that helpful.
As for me, I’ve never been Catholic, and am still in the religion of my birth. If I want to know about Catholicism, I’ll ask a Catholic. If a Catholic leaves Catholicism and becomes a Mormon, I figure he has his own reasons…the emphasis should be on what he believes now, not what he used to, no longer does, and is mad about. That’s useless anyway.
(shrug)
I suppose you are going to get a lot of anti-Catholic pats on the back on this thread, but, well…not from me.
