Peace Be upon All,
I am a muslim. I am here to relay what I have come across during my readings of the books. My job is only to share my findings. Out of hope of Salvation for all Human beings, I will post some of my findings. At the end our goal for Jews, Christians and Muslims is to attain Heaven. For the sources, I used Biblegateway web site. I will not quote anything from New Testament or Quran. I will use Old Testament. To be more objective.
the Old Testament chapter Deuteronomy 18, there are versus Where God reveals to Moses that there will be a prophet coming in the future similar to you among brother and will speak on my name and I will require of him and I will put the words in his mouth. Sorry I am just writing out of my head so these are not all the words. I kind of summarized it. I have seen in One Bible, i think it is just new modern translation, it uses the word Israelis instead of brethren. New Catholic version uses the word Brethren. So I wondered what would be the original text. there is the Jewish Orthodox Bible. So if you look at there, you will find some words very interesting. For example the word used for God is Eloichea (something like this) the word for brethren is Achim means brother and relative. So it is not Israeli.
What is most interesting is that God says I will put “Bismi” the hebrew word, in his month and he will speak of this and I will require him to do. So it is a must. It is not like a choice. I don’t know if anyone of you read Quran. If you look at the chapters, 99 percent of the chapters starts like this: “in the name of God…”. The arabic form of these words are “Bismillah”. “Bismi - Allah” when it combines it is Bismillah. The idea of being similar to Prophet Moses. I will compare both Moses and Mohammed quickly.
Both born and died in peace and buried by his people.
Both had father and mother
Both didn’t claim to be God
Both run away from those who wanted to kill them. Literally chased by horses, both saved by a miracle.
Both given laws and commandments. Hundreds of them. They did not say that they are inheriting.
Both had a nation that followed, not just followers. They established a nation with laws.
Both fought against those who were trying to destroy them.
Both killed people in these wars in the name of God to save the religion.
Both were married.
Both had kids.

God also told Abraham to give all these lands from Southern Turkey to all the way to Yemen to his descendants. And he kept the promise. The land is for Jews and Muslims. Isaac and Ismael, brothers, Moses and Mohammed, brethren and relative. Jews are from Isaac and Arabs from Ismael.
Peace Be on You, just like Jesus used to say,
I bring you peace (salom-selam{Islam})
Thanks

One big difference, Moses is in the Hebrew Bible , Mohammed is not. You could look at the original Hebrew

15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 7:15

From a Christian perspective there is no reason for Islam. God gave us his only son, Jesus who allowed himself to be sacrificed for our sins. What does Islam bring that we cannot find in Christianity? Islam does not add to Christianity, it cannot improve on it.

Okay, I’m used to Muslims misquoting the Bible or quoting it out of context, please just get to the point of what you’re trying to say. I’ve had many a debate with Muslims, and it always ends up going back to the scriptures were corrupted, yeah that’s really convenient for them isn’t it? Funny, because Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses say the same thing.

My big issue with Islam, is not only the alleged Prophet Mohammed, I refuse to call him a prophet because I don’t believe he was one, but the denial of the crucifixion and Resurrection. Because if that did not happen, our sins are not forgiven. It is absurd, to believe that the scriptures were corrupted to make someone die from something like crucifixion.

I wish you would just look what I wrote and comment on it. So far all the comments below is just general personal opinions and nothing to do what I wrote.

A few thoughts:
  • In Deuteronomy, they wouldn’t use the term “Israeli”, since that refers to a citizen of the modern state of Israel. On the other hand, they would use the term “Israelite”, which is not the same as “Israeli”, but refers to a person who is a descendant of the man Israel (Jacob).
  • Deuteronomy begins with a discussion of the patrimony of the tribe of Levi. Since it’s comparing their inheritance with that of other tribes, “fellow-Israelite” and “brother” are equivalent and point to the same group of people: members of the People of God who are inheriting the Promised Land upon their entry into it.
For example the word used for God is Eloichea (something like this)
The word for ‘God’ in Hebrew is often ‘elohim’, although that’s not God’s proper name.
the word for brethren is Achim means brother and relative. So it is not Israeli.
Again, it doesn’t have the meaning “Israeli”, but of “Israelite”, which is the particular ‘brother’ being talked about here.
What is most interesting is that God says I will put “Bismi” the hebrew word, in his month
I’m seeing it as də·ḇā·rāy. And, it’s not “name”, but “word.”
Both didn’t claim to be God
Ahh, but both claimed to have been given messages from God. These messages diverge. That’s where we run into acrimony, no?

Peace!

The land is for Jews and Muslims. Isaac and Ismael, brothers, Moses and Mohammed, brethren and relative. Jews are from Isaac and Arabs from Ismael.
Well one point of contention is that if the Arabs descended from Ishmael, they weren’t technically Muslims at that time. And I’m not speaking ethnically, I’m drawing a distinction between that and the religious aspect. Since Ismael died nearly 2000 years before the Islamic religion was created.
So Jews & Muslims must have a different idea of salvation.
Short answer yes. Neither of their religions see Jesus as necessary for Salvation.

When I used the word Israeli, i meant that: one of the bible version is using this word while another is using the word brethren. I wanted to point out that, it seems like meanings get lost while translated in different versions. So then I looked at the jewish orthodox bible, from the biblegateway web site. Deuteronomy 18 is the general chapter. If you look at the verses regarding the coming prophet like Moses, i think 18:16 till 18:20, something like that, it can be seen what I wrote in my first post. The word Eloheicha is used for God. The root of the word Elohim. Please search online.
As for the Bismi, Refer jewish orthodox bible devarim 18:19. I quoted below also:

19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not listen unto My words which he shall speak Bishmi (in My Name), I will require it of him.

The word Eloheicha is used for God.
Actually, from what I’m reading, that form means “your god”. There’s another form used in that passage that means “my god”. And besides which, in that context, it also uses God’s proper name (which is often translated with the circumlocution “Lord”).
Please search online.
I have. 😉
As for the Bismi
“bishmi” merely means “in my name”. In context, it’s referring back to God… but it doesn’t have to, right?

I have the impression that you are looking at the OT through an Islamic lens, so you may understand certain parts of it differently.

From my point of view (Catholic), my question would be why trust the Quran in the first place? Why should we accept the interpretation you have proposed?

The Heaven described by Jesus differs radically from that described by Mohammed. Jesus says that marriage is for this world only; there is no sex in Heaven. Yet, the joy of seeing God face-to-face will far surpass sex, such that even were it the only pleasure, one would not miss anything else, but the joy of the saints will be magnified further by the companionship of their fellow saints, and individual rewards according to their works.

Now, I must be clear on this point: good works obtain rewards, but only when done in righteousness. Without righteousness, even good deeds are tainted such that they are worthless. In no way can any work of man cancel out a sin worthy of damnation, but only God showing mercy to those who repent can remove his sin.

I commend you for your study and how you are trying to work out and understand theology in Judaism and Islam.

I actually thought Elohim is plural = gods.

Good luck with your studies.

I will not quote anything from New Testament or Quran.
why not?

IMHO there are differences between the books that need to be discussed and basic questions need to be addressed.

Muslims say Jesus is not God and Christians say He is God. Did Christ die on the cross or an impostor? Did Christ die at all?

the books state completely opposite things, only one can be true.

why is the Muslim version correct?

Both born and died in peace and buried by his people.
I am curious?
The circumstances surrounding Moses birth was hazardous to say the least. He was not allowed to enter the Holy Land.
What do you mean by peace?

Comparisons with Mohammed and Moses are not the Norm with Muslims

Neither are squabblings over ‘translations’

Muslims hold Jesus/Isa and Mary/Maryam His Virgin Mother - in very High Regard. .

Your comparison is not convincing. Islam came too late in history, some 600 years after Christ to be credible as a Moses type. More convincing is to say that Moses was a type of Christ. Both were persecuted as babies and were saved by a family member, both had protection at first in Egypt but then left it and both spent 40 days fasting alone in the wilderness.
