I have taken more stuff to Goodwill over the past 3 days than I can enumerate! And, it’s not junky stuff, it’s NICE stuff.

I am on a cleaning BINGE.

And it feels good.

Anyone care to join me in official CAF “get rid of the stuff” week?

I am off work all week. So, DH is at the mercy of my household projects. I am also a one-woman episode of Mission: Organization!

This morning, I hauled apart the girls’ room, painted a shelfing unit to go into their room, made them air their stuffed animals, changed the linens, took the ornaments off the tree, and did all this while buidling a PC for my cousin, starting at the motherboard.

Cool!

That’s the spirit!

OK, break is over… I’m off to clean more stuff…

I’ll join! I’m off all week, and my dd, of all people…told me that I should clean out my closet…and give the clothes I’m not wearing to good will. Where did that child come from? lol

I hate cleaning, but I’m sure I’ll feel good when the stuff is purged. Good thread, and good for you 1ke!!🙂

We got rid of our storage building at the end of Nov. I hauled about half of its contents to Goodwill. It did feel good. I’m going through closets this week. I just feel a real need to simplify our life and not have so much stuff.

Yes! I will join you in getting rid of stuff. Except that we already arranged a pick up, which means our stuff stays in our garage until a truck arrives.

There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to get rid of stuff and organize the rest.

Already done it. Had about 3 car loads of stuff between my mother, me and my roommate. Never felt so good to get rid of clothes. though during my move this last week i figured out i still have too many clothes and need to get rid of more. i agree it is time to simplify our lives!

We are preparing for Theophany, which is when the kids get presents, so today I cleared out all the baby toys (my “baby” turned 2 earlier this month). I am not permitted to get rid of them, in case we have another baby, though, so I will keep them on hand for younger visitors.

I had DH take down the crib in the “baby’s” room. He’s in a big boy bed now. All the bedtime books are in his room, because his older brother comes into his room for bedtime reading anyway.

I have to toss some icky old curtains as well. Already have them bagged.

We had a big furniture move/reorganization before Thanksgiving, so I’m still revelling in my new library and schoolroom. Got to get lessons ready for after Christmas break. 👍

Oh man, I have more stuff than I want to think about that needs to go to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. Maybe that’s what DH and I will do tomorrow.

I did a car load on the 23rd, but there is still soooo much stuff. Today I got out many, many bags of just plain trash, 90% of which came from my 17 yr old dd’s room. I haven’t even dented what is in there, and I already know that she is going to kill me when she comes home. I knew her room was awful, but actually getting in there and going through stuff I had no idea just how bad it was.

I seriously want to get rid of most of what we have so that if I need to move it can be accomplished easily.

Woo-hoo we are on a roll!

I am glad there are so many others with this same obsession right now!
👍

My dd is in need of clothes. So, I told her to wait a week until everyone cleaned out their closets and then we would go to Goodwill. 😃

She has plenty of tshirts and jeans, but she needs nicer clothes. In fact, she is going on a weekend retreat next week, and they aren’t allowed to wear jeans, sweats or tshirts. We went to Target yesterday, but even with sale prices I couldn’t bring myself to buy $17 slacks that we can find (hopefully) at Goodwill for $4 or $2 (on 1/2 sale).

I’m so tired lately, clearing things out of the house seems too hard. Maybe I’ll sit on the couch and point–the kids can pack it up for me.

🙂

cleaned out kitchen and pantry last week for our distribution to the needy, had already done clothes closests and linens in the fall. not only is MIL coming, but her sister as well, so I am on a cleaning frenzy this week. MIL is not to bad but her sister is the dirt police and will moan incessantly if she sees any dust or grime, and worse, try to clean herself on her hands and knees (I don’t even do that) and then complain about how much it hurts.

the key to clean is get rid of stuff, so have at it, girls.

now, once you get the discards in boxes and bags, how do you get motivated to actually get it in the car and out to goodwill, SA or St. Vincent?

Got a bag out of DS’s closet.

Have to go through mine and DH’s…

We sorted the garage on Saturday, but most of it was DH’s stuff which he says he will go through later. The baby and toddler toys were moved to the shed (not sure we should keep them anymore)

Yesterday DS and self spent the day visiting two of my grandaunts in different nursing homes, so no cleaning…

Will have to get back to it once I do groceries (normally done on Saturdays, but slacked off since I am home this week)

I have 4 boxes of clothing that needs to go tomorrow as well.

We have a brand new Goodwill that opened a few weeks ago. Brand new very upscale building looks like a boutique building.
Hubby and I checked out the Goodwill on grand opening day - you could not squeeze any additional cars in the lot!
They have had search lights for a few weeks now announcing the opening of this really nice store.

It’s about as nice a store as I a TX Maxx, Marshalls etc.

Fortunately, the Goodwill donation center is right across the highway from Walmart-- which is the main place to shop out here in my rural area. It’s a super Walmart so that’s where I grocery shop.

So, DH loads up my truck and I swing through the Goodwill on the way to grocery shop. I do a few boxes or a whole load. It makes it easy to take things to Goodwill when it’s right on the way to the grocery store!!!

DH just came out of his study and announced that we needed to get organized, and that we should start dropping stuff off at the SVDP store. 👍

We started the big cleanout yesterday too! So far we’ve only gotten throught the boxes full of books and cd’s that were on the floor of the closet, but we will start in on the clothes today! 👍
