Hi all. This community of faith has prayed for me before. I need prayer for dealing with fear. I would love to attribute this to the scary movies that I have watched recently. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with this problem for a while now. I am afraid of the dark and silence. It is a nagging fear and I am tired of it. Any and all prayers are welcome. Please help!😦

Try praying to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

**Hebrews 13:6 ** Thus we may say with confidence:

"The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"

This is what I say when I fear, I pray it and my fear quickly diminishes for I realize that nothing can harm my soul which is dedicated to Jesus Christ, he shields me from all evil.

Matthew 6:27 Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?

Don’t worry, but believe in Jesus Christ and let his peace be yours knowing nothing happens on earth without his knowledge and if you love him, he will love you and if he loves you there is nothing to fear but disappointed our Lord.

I am praying for you and your fear will leave you. Peace be with you.

The Lord is your helper do not be afraid

The 23rd Psalm

"The Lord is my Shepherd…

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death (or through the darkest valley),
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

CuriousGirl,
I used to be afraid of the dark. Very much so that I would not sleep in a room alone unless there was another soul in the room. Having even a child in the room was better than no person at all. When there was no one I would sit in a corner till early hours of morning before falling into a restless sleep out of exhaustion.

I started praying psalm 23 (thanks to prodigal son you have it in this thread) and my fear attack subsided.

I will suggest you stop watching horror films if you have a vivid imagination that is causing you these fear attacks. Mine used to be avoiding seeing dead bodies at all cost. As soon as I saw a dead body, I would have a vivid imagination of the zombie in my room watching me. God, I used to be scared. So, I have a taboo, even now, never to see a dead body.

I will encourage you to pray psalm 23 before going to bed.

Now let us pray:

O brother Jesus, fear is a real enemy that plagues my sister curious girl.
I pray for your constant companionship by her side, Lord make her feel your presence.
So that in the darkness she will be comforted, gradually Lord, give her the grace to overcome her fear. Strengthen and bless her. In your mighty name I pray. Amen.

Peace and Love

Praying for you …

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Dear curiousgirl26 trust in The Lord.I hope you have a cross & if you do keep it on you
at all times for ‘protection’.This is a little prayer for you and your protection from fears.
God bless

CROSS IN MY POCKET
I carry a cross in my pocket, a simple reminder to me of the fact that I am a Christian no matter where I may be. This little cross is not magic nor is it a good luck charm. It isn’t meant to protect me, from every physical harm. It’s not for identification for all the world to see. It’s simply an understanding between my Savior and me. When I put my hand in my pocket to bring out a coin or key, the cross is there to remind me of the price he paid for me. It reminds me, too, to be thankful for my blessings day by day, and strive to serve him better in all that I do and say. It’s also a daily reminder of the peace and comfort I share with all who know my master and give themselves to his care. So, I carry a cross in my pocket reminding no one but me that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life if only I’ll let him be. Amen

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

That you will find peace.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

Amen.

I’m sometimes afraid of the dark myself, curiousgirl26. But remember the 91st Psalm:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God, in him will I trust”.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisesome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night,
nor for the arrow that flieth by day.
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;
nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand;
but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge,
even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:
the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
”Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him:
I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”
