Wow, I’ve never heard this in all my years. So the OT stories are romances? And some later people (stupid ones, obviously) came along one day and decided they were true, even though their own fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers knew they weren’t true. Do you actually believe this to be possible? Can’t every generation simply ask the previous generation if the stories are true or not? Wouldn’t every generation tell the next generation if the stories were true or not? How could an entire people suddenly forget that these stories are fiction, and start thinking they are fact? It’s harder to believe that than to believe in God.
And where is the rule set down that if you’re writing a romance it’s OK to have blatant, glaring contradictions in the narrative? That’s a new rule on me.
