Yes, but if you leave no proof, how am I supposed to you?? Once again, millions of religions, even if I found out one was true, which one?

I maintain that I cannot offer you proof God exist. If I did I would take the “faith” out of the equation. You need to think long and hard about what it means to have faith and maybe why a deity would require faith. I believe the answer lies in humility, overcoming our pride, and overcoming our need to control everything.

As for which one is true- research. Learn all you can about all the religions and decide. I personally believe Christ is the Son of God which leads me to Catholicism. As for if a non catholic but still Christian will end up in hell…I have my theories but I am not comfortable sharing them yet because I am still learning about the Church’s teachings. There is a ton of Catholic literature- I haven’t read it all yet. 🙂

I have almost died…hmm…I’d say four times. Luck, that is all…(I’d even say bad luck, I mean who almost dies four times at this age??)

I’m going to turn this back on you. How can you say it is only luck? How do you KNOW it isn’t more? You keep telling me I have to prove God exists- but you can’t prove God doesn’t exist either.

I’m not just talking about I suddenly figured out a way to solve the problem. I don’t think the law of probability works that way. It seems to happen too often and too well.

Examples, please?

I’ll give you my examples but you are just going to say “that’s luck.”

My mother was sitting in a rocking chair with my baby brother and suddenly decided to get up for no reason. As soon as she moved away from the chair a bullet came through the window and hit the wall…it would have gone through her head had she stayed in the chair. When we asked her why she got up, she couldn’t give a reason just that she felt compelled to get up.

I was behind on my bills and not really sure what I was going to do. I was really worried I was going to overdraft my account-----I found $200 on the sidewalk that day. Which was the exact amount I needed. What are the chances I would find the exact amount I need, at the exact time I needed it- with plenty of time to get to the bank?

Lots of other examples are more personal. Problems and mistakes I found myself battling in school and work and solutions came up. I will never be able to list everything to your satisfaction and you will be able to say everything was just luck.

Religion (usually doesn’t matter what) does increase the happiness of your life. This is usually due the lack for fear of death.

I would normally agree with this except I still fear death. (I know I am a bad Catholic- I am trying to work on it.)

To compare this to god, the parents would first have to leave me as an orphan, and the secretly help me by sending money or good friends etc. to me. Then when they’d wonder why I don’t love them, all I could say would be; “I never knew you helped me. You never even hinted me of your existence.”

I would choose him, if I would have any reason to assume he exists, and the knowledge of what religion is the correct one…

What about gifts I don’t even know I am receiving?

You have been told, there have been hints. Remember Christ? The Son of God came to live among us, died for us and was resurrected? Remember everything he said about God will forgive and will help. You have been told you just choose to say “eh, I don’t believe you.”

Read the story in Luke about the rich man and Lazuras- The rich man asks for a chance to go tell his brothers so they will amend their lives. Abraham told him “They have been told.”

That you choose not to listen is not the same as not being told. And you know in your hearts of heart that you have been given gifts- you know not everything in your life is because of your own effort. But you call it Luck- we call it God.

I’d better watch out then.

Hehehe- yep! See it can be worse!

There is a difference between would and could. I asked ‘for what’, this means you could even choose the situation. And also this is opinion related, it does not require infinite wisdom.

Ok I admit it, I dodge this question as everyone else did. But that is because we are uncomfortable putting ourselves in God’s position even hypothetically. It borders on blasphemy. You ought to respect that.

Sigh…I keep getting slammed for this mistake; I meant Is God the source of all moral?

Sorry, I didn’t read the other posts- I just tried to answer your questions. But I think I still gave you an answer.

Indeed, it was a very quick example, but the whole point was; can you kill one to save five people. I am sure there are mole likely scenarios.

Ok, and no science can’t tell you either. This is a moral judgment thing.

It is a moral judgment. God never said he would give us all the answers, he never said we would always know what to do. But he gives us the opportunities to become the best people we can be.

I know you don’t like the answer I have given you- that you won’t find proof, you either have faith or you don’t. But that is the best answer I can give you. I would encourage you to read more and research more- that’s how you are really going to decide.

I would venter to say you made this post and asked these questions. Obviously something is bothering you…maybe you have more faith than you think. Either that or you just are spoiling for a fight or like an intellectual debate. 🙂

I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

LOL-so since you cant answer the questions you want to change the definitions!

Many people think this is an image of a lifeform becuase of the trail behind it. Actually its a rock
you did not provide any definition in the first place that was my point

if you provide a definition for life then we have something we can work off of

until we have a definition any debate on the issue is frivolous because we will not be on the same page

You must be able to explain , how coded information in DNA formed by itself by chance, without a mind.
I am pretty sure the video did that, but here is another one, and a link…

youtube.com/watch?v=U6QYDdgP9eg

(got hit by a 1-star voter bot, and the effect used to be visible, by looking at the statics of the video, till the changing of youtube rating system.)

Video description quote;

“This has been CONFIRMED in Dr. Jack Szostak’s LAB. 2009 Nobel Laurette in medicine for his work on telomerase.”

Longer answer;

EDIT; Might be the final post today…

Well, that video is a joke. Just to state " somehow polynucleotides formed, and they made RNA , and RNA started to copy itself " simply doesnt explain ANYTHING.

You must be able to explain , how coded information in DNA formed by itself by chance, without a mind.
we have created polynucleotides using naturally occurring amino acids in a simulated comet impact on earth and you say chance with out mentioning natural selection random mutation is an ingredient but natural selection is the catalyst

random mutation with out natural selection produces nothing

Faith, trust, prayer and love. G-d does exist. I love Him with all my mind, body, and soul. He is my loving father in heaven. What if G-d told you 50 years ago there were millions of galaxies, would you have believed Him, because you could not see them? In the proper time G-d had man discover great telescopes to see an amazing, huge universe beyond our dreams. You need an awesome creator to do that. Everything created did not start by chance. Read the miracle of “Our Lady of Guadalupe”, check out the bleeding host at Betania, Venezuela. Read “Witness” a story about Josep Terelya, a Ukrainian Catholic who went to horrible jails for about 23 years, because the Russians could not turn him into an atheist. The Russians closed the churches and the Catholics worshiped underground. Why do most atheist try to stop prayer in schools, stop Christmas, believe in abortions. How does G-d hurt atheist, (if they think He doesn’t exist), or why do they care what Christians do? Yes, G-d gave us the Ten Commandments to follow because He loves us and doesn’t want us to get hurt. When man trust in themselves and forgets G-d, man really makes a mess of everything. Sin even makes nature crazy. Your parents forced religion on you, but our Heavenly Father wants you to come to Him willingly. Please have a open heart, pray to G-d to help you understand, go to church and at least enjoy the peace. Don’t give up on G-d, because He won’t give up on you. It is G-d’s decision who goes to hell, because He knows the true heart. If you love G-d, wouldn’t you try to please Him and want to be with Him? If you hate G-d, Hell is your choice, not His. Read John 3:16 and see how much He loved us. Did you know in heaven there is more joy for a lost sinner to come back to G-d then a person who was always a believer. Come back, we miss you, especially your Heavenly Father.
I’m sending you the blessings of Jesus, Saviour of the world, the King of Hearts.
With love always,
Anita

This post is purely about the questions you asked. Not about any other posting. It is long but I do hope you will read it. Please ask me if something is unclear. I have to split it up because it is so long!! Sorry… If you do not read it, I understand. But thanks for at least considering reading it
  1. Why do you believe in god?
1.1 How is your religion different from any others?
1.2 Do you actually have any logical reason to believe in god?
    1. Do you believe that god will send me to hell, even if I live my life really well, but I just don’t believe in him?
2.1 Do you think this is just?
2.2 Would you do the same?
  1. For what would you send a person for **eternal ** torture?
3.1 Would you send your child, who you love, also there?
  1. Why do you think religion tends to contradict science?
4.1 Do you think science tends to be correct, in fact a lot more than religion? (if no, why not?)
  1. Do you think bible is the source of all moral?
5.1 If so, how do you explain my moral?
  1. Do you think the ten commandments are perfect, and more than enough to guide your life?
6.1 If so, what would you do in the following situation? "You are at a railroad track. The train is coming, and far ahead, you can see five persons in it’s way. The persons can not hear you nor the train. (they are wearing headphones, they can’t hear, I don’t know) The persons are not moving, and will soon be hit by the train. You have only one chance saving them. Next to you there is a switch. By pulling the switch, the train will change track. But on this other track is also one other person, who will be hit by the train. Will you save the five persons, but kill the other one?
You see, the bible states, ‘thou shalt not kill’, yet on this and similar situations, you must use your own judgment.
Code:
6.2 And what if the other person on the second track is your mother/father/child?
These are some of the very basic questions, that I will ask you. Please reply to them. 🙂
I really do commend you for your search. When I was atheist, I enjoyed just ripping everybody apart almost like a sadist. I delved into the sciences (astronomy, physics, modern physics, mathematics, quantum mechanics, relativity, cosmology; not so much the biology and chemistry stuff) because that is where the truth is at. All the evidence is right there. But there is a big problem with this part of truth. There is only so much we can know without looking for our source of desire to know the truth. We forget to look for truth in the one place we can find it. Behind our emotions and intellect. Modernism teaches us to use our minds, and that is the end of it. There is more to us than what we can calculate and see. Anyway, I became a Catholic after a 10-year atheism because there are two sides to truth. Empirical and non-empirical, but both are objective. As science cannot be subjective, religion also cannot be subjective. Modernism also teaches us that “what is true for you, does not have to be true for me.” That is where we get in arguments because when we say the Catholic Church has the Truth (metaphysical) people feel insulted. There is another side (Buddhism or Hinduism; I forget) that teaches it is all true and that reality is illusion. I do not believe you would be going to hell if you were to die today (I surely hope this is not the case) because it may not be your fault that you do not believe. However, you ARE searching. That is the whole point of life. Our search, our reason. We have to live for a reason, otherwise, we are just existing, not living. Ok, now to your questions. I will do my best. Bare (bear?) with me.

This is the second part of my post. Sorry about that!
  1. I believe in God because I believe with all heart that there is something out there. Scientists even admit that because there are mysteries we never understand, that does not negate its truth.
1.1 The Catholic Church is the only religion to teach objective truth of morality and it lets science teach the objective truth of nature (physical nature). It also recognizes that there are other truths and practices in other religions (granted some are obscure, some if not most). There are paradoxes but a little deeper thought proves that one side of the paradox is dependent on the other (i.e. free will and predestination).
1.2 Logical reason tells me that I must search for myself and not assume that what people say is true. Sam Harris for example (I am sure you know him), presents reasons to not believe but he assumes no god exists and that clearly brings upon fallacies (beneath the words that is; they are compelling) in his reasoning. (I suggest you read his "Letter to a Christian Nation. See what you find if you wish that is)
  2. I do not believe he will send you to hell for not believing in something explicitly. Maybe if you were not searching for anything or if you did not believe in truth or something. Like I said though, it may not be your fault for not believing. (2.1 is answered here I believe. If not, please tell me.)
2.2 It does not matter what I would do. My existence is empirical. People believe that I exist because they can see me and my effects. (My belief is that we cannot see Him but we can see His effects. Just throwing that out there)
  3. The way eternal torture is presumed (really hot fires and such as presented in the Bible for example) need not be taken literally as fires and such. We do not know how it works but here is a logical form of what may happen. As a sinner sent to hell, maybe he hates God so much that His love for him burns. Sounds really corny, but were you ever mad at your mom or dad for not giving you the toy you wanted and they tried to hug you and you hated it? or for spanking you but they tell you a little while after that they love and try to hug you and kiss you, yet you hated it? (run-on sentence… Sorry) Could be something like that. We can only speculate. It all makes sense and is quite logical though. (I believe so anyway)
3.1 I cannot answer this question. I am not intelligent enough for this one. I would not though. Please do not tear me apart on that one.
  4. Religion contradicts science because people are idiots and we let it. The Catholic Church advocates scientific knowledge and truth because that is another side of truth. Empirical and statistical (that one is not necessarily truth but can give us knowledge of it) and such. Some people try to bring religion into science and it seems contradictory and this brings up controversy (vice-versa also as witnessed in Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Roger Penrose for example). Truth cannot contradict Truth (I believe because it is God’s). It is objectively true that lying is wrong. It is objectively true that gravity brings objects toward its center of mass/gravity. For example again, Creation and evolution do not explicitly or implicitly contradict each other but people assume they do.
4.1 A lot more than religion in general? yes A lot more than the Catholic Church in sheer statistics (percentages considered here)? No. I do take a bias approach and take that the Catholic Church is more often right in its teachings on faith and morals then the sciences are. This is my opinion. It may be completely wrong in reality, though. Know that I am taking in consideration all the sciences, from chemistry to biology to psychology. You name it. That is what I am considering.

This is the third part of it. Dang, sorry about that. I am done!!
  1. I believe the Word is the source of all morality. The eternal Logos instilled in all our hearts from day one. I believe the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ. He is the Logos, but as I said before, this does not mean explicitly. If after all this you still do not believe emotionally and intellectually but keep your search for Truth even as an atheist, I believe that is your ticket. (This answers 5.1 I think. If not, again please tell me.)
  2. I believe the Ten Commandments are perfect. Believe in God (Truth, Source of all Truth) and Love your neighbor as yourself.
6.1 Well, I would tell the lone guy to hit the switch (but that is under the assumption that he is not wearing headphones.) That would save all of them. I get your point though (excuse my sarcasm!). I would save the 5. That is a tough call but either one you pick (considering we are limited) would not be your fault if the other died. Sin is only if we are conscious of it. Self-defense also. If you kill the person who is assaulting you, this is your right to life. Even our consciences are fallible. He may not have wanted to kill you, but you do not know that and you assume he does and you kill him. That is the fallibility also. We must protect ourselves as well as our family and friends and neighbors. If you saw a dude that you see trying to rape (I hate this word) a girl you do not know, chances are you would try to subdue him, unless he kept trying to harm you or kill you. In which case you would kill him. It is all based on ours and other right to life.
6.2 Yikes! Well, I honestly do not know what I would choose. I say would choose the five but upon the actual situation, I have no idea. That is like when people say that if a person ever came in with a gun to classroom, they would jump up and act like the hero. They do not realize that it does not get any more real than being close to death.
I hope these answers suffice what you are looking for. Again, I commend you for even asking. An open-minded atheist is hard to come by. I should know, I was a stubborn little prideful schmuck. I still kind of am but I am not an open-minded schmuck with humility. Let me know what you think. But as a closing remark, do not let modernism run your mind. Let YOU, your “I”, run your mind. Let the feelings follow the heart and vice-versa. Having faith is not easy, but it is more simple than people think. But that is precisely the problem. They think too much into it. I hope you find what you are looking for (even if it is not in the Catholic Church, which I hope it is, but still). Keep your search going. It is a life-long process. I sure am loving it. Anyway, Take care my friend. (sorry about the length)

Yeah, when a person (Angela Boudreaux, New Orleans, 1966) is in terminal-stage of liver cancer, and suddenly heals and lives another 35 years after praying for a holy priest’s (Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos’s) intercession, that presents a serious problem to atheists. 🤷 😛
And you got to remember scientists also. But what Many Doctors know but of course are not permitted to admit, and that science has discovered is when a person has faith in God no matter what the disease when they have that deep faith it God they always do better.

Even if they do not heal physically they seem to heal emotionally. And they can accept what they have to accept much easier.

Truth be known like the one person said, they were in Science and see no conflict. Because they know what we know that God can do whatever he wants, however he wants. And make a joke out of science anytime he wants:D

Usually people pray, when sick, and cancer healing is rare, but it does occur. Meaning, that when you do heal, you usually have prayed. Also these kinds of ‘miracles’ happen at every major religion… (because there are a lot of people, the likelihood of these ‘miracles’ increases)
Oh so you accept miracles but not God? And who do these miracles come from Santa:rotfl: Or maybe the tooth fairy!😃

EDIT; Might be the final post today…
Well,

in fact, your linked website has no answer at all :

Unfortunately, there’s no sure way to know when DNA appeared. By the time it made the scene, organisms were growing more and more complex, and it’s not easy to sort through all of the evolutionary possibilities and affix a specific order to each improvement.

they should explain HOW it appeard, HOW it first reproduced, HOW it coded the DNA and
mRNA by chance.
They have failed to give a consistent , and reproducable explanantion.

Truth is, there isnt one.

and that brings us to the law of Information :

elshamah.heavenforum.com/origin-of-life-how-did-life-arise-on-earth-f2/information-evidence-for-a-creator-t287.htm

Fundamental Law 1 (FL1)

A purely material entity, such as physicochemical processes, cannot create a nonmaterial entity. (Something material cannot create something nonmaterial.)
Physical entities include mass and energy (matter). Examples of something that is not material (nonmaterial entity) include thought, spirit, and volition (will).

Fundamental Law 2 (FL2)

Information is a nonmaterial fundamental entity and not a property of matter.
The information recorded on a CD is nonmaterial. If you weigh a modern blank CD, fill it with information, and weigh it again, the two weights will be the same. Likewise, erasing the information on the CD has no effect on the weight.
The same information can be transmitted on a CD, a book, a whiteboard, or using smoke signals. This means the information is independent of the material source. A material object is required to store information, but the information is not part of the material object. Much like people in an airplane are being stored and transferred in the plane, they are not part of the physical plane.
The first law of thermodynamics makes it clear that mass and energy (matter) can neither be created nor destroyed. All mass and energy in the universe is being conserved (the total sum is constant). However, someone can write a new complicated formula on a whiteboard and then erase the formula. This is a case of creating and destroying information.

Since the first law of thermodynamics states that mass and energy (matter) cannot be created or destroyed, and information (UDI) can be created and destroyed, information (UDI) must be nonmaterial.
The genetic information system is the software of life and, like the symbols in a computer, is purely symbolic and independent of its environment. Of course, the genetic message, when expressed as a sequence of symbols, is nonmaterial but must be recorded in matter and energy.5

Indeed, Einstein pointed to the nature and origin of symbolic information as one of the profound questions about the world as we know it. He could identify no means by which matter could bestow meaning to symbols. The clear implication is that symbolic information, or language, represents a category of reality distinct from matter and energy.6

First Law of Information (LI1)

Information cannot originate in statistical processes. (Chance plus time cannot create information no matter how many chances or how much time is available.)
There is no known law of nature, no known process, and no known sequence of events which can cause information to originate by itself in matter.7

Second Law of Information (LI2)

Information can only originate from an intelligent sender
Corollary 18
All codes result from an intentional choice and agreement between sender and recipient.

We observe daily a continual (name removed by moderator)ut of new information (UDI) from an intelligent source (human beings). At present, on earth, the only new information we have detected being created is from human beings. Careful examination of other systems will determine if there are any other intelligent sources of new UDI.
Corollary 2
Any given chain of information can be traced backward to an intelligent source.
For two people to effectively communicate, there must be some agreement on the language or code that is used.

cosmicfingerprints.com/iidb.htm
  1. DNA is not merely a molecule with a pattern; it is a code, a language, and an information storage mechanism.
  2. All codes are created by a conscious mind; there is no natural process known to science that creates coded information.
  3. Therefore DNA was designed by a mind.
This evidence debunks atheism. 👍

And you got to remember scientists also. But what Many Doctors know but of course are not permitted to admit, and that science has discovered is when a person has faith in God no matter what the disease when they have that deep faith it God they always do better.

Even if they do not heal physically they seem to heal emotionally. And they can accept what they have to accept much easier.

who does not “permit” doctors to admit this? they dont sign away their free speech when they take the Hippocratic oath, and since many hospitals are overtly religious i doubt they would secretly tell docs to remain quiet about the help of god in healing

no what you really mean is that you suspect based on personal beliefs that this is the case. but what you dont realize is that every study done shows no effect or even more ironic is a NEGATIVE effect of prayer on healing such as this one

Source

Well,

Two words…NATURAL SELECTION

why is it people who dont like evolution always leave out the biggest part of it when they debate it? maybe because the only lose straw in the theory is the strawman you keep putting up?

You said you are here to find out if there is any reason the you should believe in God? Why?

I mean if you doubt God and claim that you do not believe in him what could we possibly say or do to give you a reason to believe in something you deny?

And why would you want a reason to believe in something you deny? Thats the question that you should ask yourself!😉

But I will give my opinion.
  1. You could care less and get joy out of hurting others and trying to make them look stupid for their faith.
  2. You have WAY too much time on your hands.
3, You are very unhappy and know that you are feeling a longing in your soul and are starting to realize that the Longing is indeed CHrist. ANd you think that we can give you some magic word to bring him back to you.

Well if you are sincere we can do that.

Admit you are sincere and if you are you will find CHrist and we will help you. Only God knows if you are sincere but we will do our part. Here it is.

Christians of all faiths join in with me.

Dear Lord if this person is really sincere please send down your Holy Spirit to enter their heart and let your grace enter upon them. Please let them gain the peace and lose the anxiety’s that only your grace can remove. We ask this dear Lord in the Name of Jesus CHrist. Amen.

wow you need reading comp lessons

he is saying
  1. when sick people tend to pray(especially when something as bad as cancer)
  2. sometimes cancer for an unknown reason(though there is gaining data that says certain hromones may cause it) will go into spontaneous remission
  3. when this occurs people will feel the prayer was the cause

Hello. As the title says, I am indeed an atheist. I hope you allow me to post on these forums. 🤷

A few questions; (please do answer) Note; Don’t get nervous, or start sending insults, if you can’t answer, then simply admit it. (I have always tried to do so)
  1. Why do you believe in god?
…because I simply do. I have recieved confirmation from a Source that I believe to be the answer to prayer (the Holy Ghost) that is sufficient reason for me to do so.
1.1 How is your religion different from any others?
It is the same in many ways, and in many ways…some larger, some smaller, very different. Your mileage and perception may vary.
Code:
1.2 Do you actually have any logical reason to believe in god?
Yes, and no.

No, in that my belief in A God is not based upon any sort of logical proof, but upon spiritual proof. If you do not accept that there can be such spiritual proof, then…well, it really is a little like trying to describe color to a man blind from birth in a way that allows his brain to process the visual image. He may never believe in, nor understand, that there is a difference between ‘red’ and ‘not quite red,’ but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Yes, in that once the possibility of “God” is established, my version of belief in Him is logical.

  1. Do you believe that god will send me to hell, even if I live my life really well, but I just don’t believe in him?
Nope. Which, of course, makes 2.1 and 2.2 not applicable. Of course, you might have to define 'really well."

2.1 Do you think this is just?
2.2 Would you do the same?

  1. For what would you send a person for **eternal ** torture?
Asking the wrong person. I don’t believe in 'eternal torture." I believe that hell (and any version of it) is simply a separation between the sinner and God…and it’s the sinner that puts him/herself there.
3.1 Would you send your child, who you love, also there?

See above.

  1. Why do you think religion tends to contradict science?
It doesn’t. Men who believe in it sometimes do. Nothing that science has come up with interferes with my religious beliefs, and none of my religious beliefs interfere with scientific fact. If, at times it looks like they MIGHT interfere with one another, it’s because somebody is misinterpreting what is seen. In that case, I simply put 'em both on the 'let time reconcile these things…) I have found that, in general, that happens.
4.1 Do you think science tends to be correct, in fact a lot more than religion? (if no, why not?)

Science is correct when it is correct, and isn’t when it isn’t. What it does NOT do is answer the same questions religion does.

  1. Do you think bible is the source of all moral?
5.1 If so, how do you explain my moral?

No. God is. Good moral and ethical rules are found in most cultures and sacred writings. Your morality was taught to you by your parents and your culture. That, whether you like the idea or not, is based upon Judeo/Christian cultural mores…which are based upon biblical teaching, which is based upon, well, what God said.

  1. Do you think the ten commandments are perfect, and more than enough to guide your life?
They are a good start, when boiled down to essentials, yes.

Actually, the bible says 'thou shalt not commit murder." That’s quite a different situation. In your example, no matter which option you choose, you are not committing murder. You ARE forced to make a truly horrific choice, but ‘murder’ isn’t involved. “Murder” is defined by the motive.
6.2 And what if the other person on the second track is your mother/father/child?
Irrelevent. That WOULD make the choice a little easier—or a lot harder. I’m simply glad that it’s not a choice I’m likely to face.
These are some of the very basic questions, that I will ask you. Please reply to them. 🙂
OK, there you go. I will say that your post is pretty standard atheist attack fare, addressed to a specific set of theism. As you can see, your questions don’t apply to quite a few theistic belief systems, even within the narrower construct of Judeo-Christian thought.

who does not “permit” doctors to admit this? they dont sign away their free speech when they take the Hippocratic oath, and since many hospitals are overtly religious i doubt they would secretly tell docs to remain quiet about the help of god in healing

no what you really mean is that you suspect based on personal beliefs that this is the case. but what you dont realize is that every study done shows no effect or even more ironic is a NEGATIVE effect of prayer on healing such as this one

OK, now THAT’S a problem for atheist thought. If prayer actually has a negative effect on healing (59% of patients having complications if they know they are being prayed for vs. 52% who weren’t being prayed for or who were but didn’t know it) then we have a situation…even a negative effect is an effect, after all. 😉

I need to know the parameters of the study. For instance, I know ABSOLUTELY that there are people out there who would, if they knew that I were praying for them, would be incredibly insulted and instantly head for the nearest lawyer to make a will. I don’t believe the same things they do, you see.

So…who was praying for whom, here? 😉 That could very easily make a difference, at least to the person being prayed for. As well, making a ‘prayer group’ as part of a scientific experiment…there is more to praying for someone’s well being than mouthing the words as part of a double blind study. For instance, if I were one of the pray-ers, I’d be sneaky and pray for the folks who weren’t supposed to be prayed for.

Just in case. 😉
