I’m a practicing Catholic and my boyfriend is Baptist. He was originally Catholic; however, his parents did not regularly practice the faith. As such, he did not learn much about the Catholic faith. When he moved, he made friends with Baptists, got to know Jesus in their community and was baptized into the Baptist church.
He does not want to learn about the Catholic faith to see if it is for him or not. I have learned about the Baptist faith and cannot see myself converting.
I love him, but I know there will be so many issues if we get married (child-rearing, which church to attend, etc). Is it enough to trust Jesus that our love and care for each other will overcome these religious issues? Should I stay with him, pray for him, and wait to see if he converts?Or should I let him go just because he is not Catholic? If he doesn’t even try to learn about the Catholic faith, does that mean he does not really love me? Or is there another reason? Like fear?
These questions seem foolish and childish, but they keep running through my mind and I seriously don’t have answers. I just want to try to understand…
