I am complicit because I decided to fall in with what people who seemed to be Catholics were saying, although it was quaint.

There was no mention of regeneration, the indwelling Jesus, nor Holy Spirit power for ongoing living.

People of goodwill were in despair because the possibility of them having faith was closed to them.

😦

Sorry for your bad feeling in this man. Even though I’m not full on sure of what you’re saying. All I do know for sure is that you’re a good guy. And I’m glad your a friend of mine.

Hope you can let yourself off the hook on this. Hope you don’t stay caught in a past mix-up that’s staying real only in your mind and heart. If it’s a big thing then let it go in small pieces. If it’s small? Just take a deep breath and forgive. Forgive yourself for tripping that one time. Then go on. Bigger and better than before.

Peace my friend.

Vic,

I’m not exactly sure what you are referring to but I really enjoy reading your posts and consider you a friend on the board.

I hope your concerns were addressed by Trident given you did seem to like his post.

Mary.

We talk about a way of life that is impossible to outsiders because of lacking in Holy Spirit power or the indwelling Jesus, and we take for granted our excellent early conditioning and what catechesis we got of whatever form or style or quantity, which others including a lot of fringe Catholics may never get, and we preach “at” them about how they are supposed to live.

Well I knew since my teens (from my Pentecostal classmate) we need Holy Spirit power and the indwelling Jesus, but other Catholics gave me the “impression” they were more expert in conveying the Catholic message than me (because of my own patchy Catholic background), and while around Catholics I have been going along with this too much.

At CAF are huge numbers of people with heartfelt qualms, quandaries and queries about life in front of Church doctrines and I’ve not been helping them really.

Threads by these good folks are indeed stating how the Church “burdens” them unduly. I see it very clearly (sometimes it takes me a long time to untangle the issues that exist in the Church) and I don’t tell everyone how to right the balance.

(The above doesn’t invariably happen on this forum; also it does happen elsewhere.)

I also like your posts,Vic, and read them and listen.
We may not always remember what people say but we grasp those hints of goodwill and kind hearts, and that remains with us.
Glad you have friends like Trident or Mary, positive and encouraging.
Have a great day!

Vic…May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you on your journey!

That supernatural power established (the indwelling) is called habitual grace or sanctifying grace, but is preceded by the gifts of actual graces which lead to the sacraments of baptism or reconciliation.

Vic, the silent preaching of the purity of your life shouts much louder to them than mere words. Words, being double-edged swords (only one letter difference between “word” and “sword”) are as likely to rob you of peace as they are to bring it. You will be amazed at the good that quietly being a good example can do.

Amen! That is a great part of what “building up the Body of Christ” is all about.

They speak a different language. One young man commended what he called my “positive mental attitude.” He did not have the vocabulary. Gave the chance to quietly explain,

We never know what seeds we plant as we go on our way.
