I understand that a divorced Catholic can not receive communion. My ex-husband died last January, am I now considered a widow? Can I ever receive communion again?
A divorced person may receive Holy Communion so long as he or she is celibate. If you attempted marriage outside of the Catholic Church, then you are still living in sin until you are able to have the situation rectified by the Church. Until that can happen, you may receive H C after going to Confession so long as you live in a celibate way.
