I am feeling a little confused about devotions

Hello.

I was thinking about the “Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ” and the “seal of the living God”.

I feel that I want to take part in this devotion for the wrong reasons. There is a promise that a specific crucifix can work miracles. I am in need of physical healing. I want to take part in this devotion, but I think that I only want to do this, because I want a miracle healing from God.

I also feel that I want to grow spiritually.

Does anyone have any advice?

First, are these “private revelations”?
 
They are, however I have heard that they have some sort of church approval.

Take a step back and explore other private devotions.

After a while you may find yourself drawn to this or another one (or two).

Let the Holy Spirit guide you in this and remember that ‘healing’ does not guarantee ‘curing’.

For me, Catholic Charismatic healing services saved my sanity and (IMO) contributed greatly to the stability of a chronic, progressive illness I was diagnosed with in 1999.
 
There’s nothing wrong with praying for healing from a serious illness.

Jesus was and still is very interested in doing this very thing.

Have you asked to be anointed? Or gone to communion with this particular intention?

never heard of either one but if they make definite promises of healing my using a sacramental they are lying.

take the materials in question to your confessor or spiritual director and ask for his guidance.

God heals whom he wishes, in the manner most profitable to the salvation of their souls, on his time, and in the meantime uses their suffering to bring them closer to him.

find a devotion that helps you unite your suffering with that of Christ, and in the meantime pray standard prayers of the Church and ask God to heal whatever is in you that he knows needs healing. Also seek whatever medical help and therapy is indicated for your condition and obey your doctors.

One of the problems is a breast lump, that is going to be removed by surgery. Should I still ask for the anointing of the sick?

YES of course, much better to resort to the sacraments of the Church than vague promises by who knows who.
