I am going to be invested in the Brown scapular.........How?

How do I wear it? (In detail please! 🙂 ) I know around your neck, but I dont exactly understand how… Also, can any priest invest you in it? Some sites say it has to be a Carmelite… I have the formula, but I dont want to embarass myself and ask Father to do it without knowing if he can… Thanks guys!

I have been invested in the Brown Scapular myself.
Just ask your parish priest to do it when he has some time.
The vesture is just a prayer and blessing from the Book of Blessings, which most priests keep handy. He will say a prayer, and probably place the scapular around your neck the first time, although that’s not relevant and optional. After that, you wear it as you please. Remember always to be reverent and respectful of it, and remember it’s purpose. It is not a sin to take it off for any length of time, the scapular is not required by the Church (obviously). If you want to wear it all the time, just take it off when you shower or bathe and then place it back around your neck, under your clothes if you so choose. If you decide to not wear it anymore sometime in the future, you can simply not put it on. At any point in your life you can start wearing it again-- not second investure is needed.
