I am looking for a NICE family bible

I am looking to buy a nice BIG thick Catholic bible, where can I buy one? I want:
  • Hardback (color does not matter)
  • Big, thick and heavy
  • illustrated
  • as orthodox as possible
  • full of pictures
  • maybe an encyclopedia (Catholic), or other things as such inside.
  • Jesus’ words in red
  • New, and up to date.
  • $50.00 - $100.00 MAX. (not including, shipping)
I have a 1954 Catholic family bible, that has someone elses name in it, it is old and just not us. I’m going to sell it on e-bay or trade for the kind I want.
 
I don’t know if the 2nd selection has Jesus’ words in red or not, but it is an Ignatius Bible, and that one is pretty good. It looks pretty to! 🙂

Try www.fssp.com. The Bible that they have is similiar, if not identical, to the one that I have. The illustrations are not in colour, but there ARE illustrations.

Another good place to try would be www.leafletmissal.org.

Also, do some more checking on the Internet. The Douay-Rheims Bible is available from a number of reputable sources.
 
If you’re interested in the St. Joseph edition it should be $63.95 including shipping (there’s sales tax in NY/NJ) at the site listed above. That’s less than the Ignatius which would probably run you around $100 with shipping. Both probably have their plus and minuses to weigh. The best Douay-Rheims Bible is probably from Baronius but they don’t have a family edition that I’m aware of:

Maybe you can email them and see if there’s any plans for one.
 
Catholic Book Publishing carries the widest selections of good quality bibles, St Joseph editions, some lovely family bibles, one with high quality art reproductions of sacred art, search on catholicbookpublishing, previous post has a link, that is the most complete bible catalog I have seen for what you are looking for

Douay-Rheims Family Bible

(The copy I have doesn’t include the footnotes, and only a few of the book introductions, and perhaps some other stuff a little wrong…maybe they have fixed those problems since then; I don’t know…overall, however, it is very nice).
