Oh I agree. Age 21 months is about the most impossible age to take a baby anywhere. Starting at around 24 months, give or take, they can begin to get some control. Prior to that, just patiently take them to the vestibule, or even outside the door and hold them.

I am in the exact same position as the thread starter. I am new to the faith and this past Sunday was only the 2nd time I have taken my 2 year old son to mass with me. He was not in the mood and I think I barely spent 5 minutes in mass. I was feeling many of the same things as the thread starter. This thread has given me encouragement. I wish our parish had a nursery during mass.
 
Do not worry. My children sometimes acted up at Mass too when they were younger. Most parents understand. I’m sorry you got “the look” from someone. Please don’t let this dissuade you from going to Mass again or becoming Catholic.
