I am praying for an end to this unemployment and unproductiveness

I’ve been out of work in a while and trying hard to either be an entrepreneur or get a decent job, I’ve been bleeding from spending nearly all of my saves in the process but all my trying seem to lead me nowhere. I’m 26 years old and still not married and jobless, my bachelor’s degree and job experiences don’t seem to help much. Many people will say that I haven’t tried harder, but I have, I’ve done my best and now I’m running out of ideas and terrified, I am praying really hard for an end to this misery :(. I hope someday God will help me at least make my parents happy, if not everyone.

That stinks! What’d you major in? What were your career plans? Maybe you could go back for a Master’s.

It’s hard for us not-yet-college-graduates, too. I understand your pain, and I’m sure you must be more worried than I.

I hope you get a great job soon!
 
Stick with it, it will get better. I understand and know your pain. I have been through this first hand and know the frustration of being unemployed or under-employed. Please don’t lose hope, and most of all trust in God’s plan.This small affliction maybe a stepping stone to a closer union with God and could be a opportunity that you may else miss if you didn’t have it. I will keep you in my prayers

Don’t despair! Keep trying: you are still young and you have experience, probably the two most important things in the job market today. And pray to St. Joseph…

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers, grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; and that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

I hear your frustration. I have a Masters in healthcare and have been unemployed since Dec 2013. I never thought this would happen to me. Now i’m down to the last few months of my savings then I don’t know what I will do. I’m even worried I will become homeless. Lord please provide work for us. Were not slackers, were applying to jobs, trying, please provide for your children work. We have faith and know You will take care of us no matter what. We love you Lord, amen!

It’s difficult to be home alone all day for me. Ive started going to some support groups in town to be around people and also afternoon mass if I feel the need to be close to Him and out of the house! Hope that helps, God bless 😉

Why not try a temp. service in the meantime, like Manpower? They can probably get you work, and it’s easier to get a work when you have some experience and good references.

Dang. I will definitely add you to my prayers. Definitely keep the job search up and schedule time every day to apply to jobs. You are also trying the entrepreneur thing which is really good (and every Catholic should be doing this in some way) but at this point it shouldn’t take away the focus on the job search. It should only be a side business while you get your feet back on the ground (Here’s an article on some Catholic business ideas: productivecatholic.com/20-catholic-business-ideas-that-you-can-start-right-now/).

Other things you need to be doing:


  1. *]Contact your local unemployment office and use any free job placement services they have
    *]Call temp job agencies in your area
    *]Keep applying (use indeed.com as someone mentioned before)
    *]Work on your side business (should be something that you can get cash flow with right away. e.g. fixing a computer, taking pictures of families, etc.)
