… and as you probably heard , it is one of the most hated and despised nation in the world.

I am in different country than my own, in Denmark, and lately I feel sad, hurt
i feel a spirit of feeling hated, hurt, angry, fearful, helpless…

I have experienced quite a few unfair things since i’ve been here…

What is your advice… what do you think of this “spirit” , state of being? Sometimes I feel it comes like a wind and enters in me, i cannot keep it away. I also often feel totally abandoned by God, betrayed by people, hated to the core of my being.

Do not despair and above all Pray.

PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Also know that I do not hate or despise you. We are both members of the Body of Christ and I can only love you as I love myself. I do not know enough about the land of your birth to understand what you mean, but just being from a particular part of the world is not justification to hate or treat someone unfairly in any way. Keep in mind that bearing wrongs patiently is one of the spiritual work of mercy, so be merciful and trust that Our Lord will make things right. He never gives us more than we can bear so you must be an especially strong person even if you do not feel like it right now. I will be praying for you.:signofcross:

It’s news to me that Romanians are disliked by other people. I knew about Indians, Pakistanis, Albanians, and several other nationalities, but until now I’d never heard that said about Romanians.

Try moving to Brazil – to São Paulo in particular, where there are people from all over the world, though as far as I know I only ever met one Romanian here. Plenty of other East Europeans, however. A Hungarian friend once told me that “São Paulo is the third largest city in Hungary: first Budapest, second Cleveland, Ohio, third São Paulo, Brazil.”

You’ll have no trouble here.

This is news to me.

I guess whatever nationality you are, somebody can say something negative about it.

Don’t give in to those negative feelings. Easier said than done, I know, but I hope for your sake that things may not be as bad as they seem.

By the way one of my coworkers is from Romania, from the Transylvania region.

Well my Friend, Being Australian , and of Course being in Australia,
We have little or no idea at all that Romanians are unpopular,
I guess your like a Square Peg in a Round hole,
Or like a Rose in a Strawbeery Patch,
You just Don’t fit in where you are,
You are not alone, there are many that have your Problem,
What I suggest you do, is try to ignor what your Circumstances are in,
Which I know is really really difficult , try to learn as much as you can about Business
&. How Business works, how people work, then while your working & saving money,
Go onto Google and learn about other Countries,go to Google earth and take a look around,
Find where Romanian communities are, perhaps like South America or even Australia,
Then try to communicate with those communities and see if there are opportunities there for you, because where you are,it might remain difficult,
Good luck my Friend,, pray , and always try to smile ,,

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

Buna ziua! Din ce parte a României sunteti? Cred că una problemă este că România are multi țigani. De ce ati plecat din România? Este o țară frumoasă și are multe de oferit.

I’ve known several Romanians, and I know stories about their Soviet era secret police. [Is that the source of the ill feelings?] I know Romania has a bigger problem with alcoholism than many countries, but that is about it.

I know of no special hatred for Romanians or eastern Europeans in general. This dislike must be a European phenomenon. I have always yearned to live in Denmark. It saddens me to know that the Danes are treating you and your fellow countryman poorly.

If they are making your life miserable, to the point that it is seriously bothering you, perhaps you should prayfully consider a move to another country.

Best wishes.

Perhaps your homeland isn’t as hated as you thought…? I know of no one who has ill feelings against Romania. In fact, I thought America & Israel were the most despised countries of the world…

Are you just feeling isolated, being in a strange place? Remember, all believers are one in the Body of Christ. Bless you, friend! :grouphug:

**Cybophonia,

I’m a Texan everyone hates us, but that is okay they are just jealous.

Everyone should have pride in their nation and heritage. It would be sad if they did not. You should also be courteous, respectful, and willing to learn the culture and people and speak their language in a country your are visiting or living in, and if possible not speak your native language around locals. That is a form of whispering and it is rude.

There are places that are racist and will hate you, but it is your attitude that you can control. I wish I could recall the black person from where the following quote comes from. A white man was walking on the sidewalk and a black man was walking toward him when the white guy in a loud voice said, “I don’t share the sidewalks with gorillas.” The black man responded, “Neither do I”, and he stepped aside and let the man pass.

I am surely not the Christian God calls me to be. If I would have been on the street and the white guy shouted that I probably would have punched him, or made him move. It helps though being 6’3" and 300lbs. I am white, but I cannot stand bigots or bullies. Which is why I find Democrats so offensive. Yes, it is true Democrats are Satan’s cheerleaders 😃

You are a citizen of Heaven first and of your country second. You are a parishioner which means pilgrim, and you are not a doormat. Have a smile on your face and shake the hands of those who will accept it, and for those that wont pray for them. Do not let it eat you up. I have known quite a few Romanians from Afghanistan, and always thought them to be nice. Always willing to share a cigar and talk.

Remember you are a disciple of Christ and are no better than our Master. If they hated him and persecuted him then you will not fare any better. I recall Cunningham from the Center of BioEthical reform once telling me that if you are not hated by some people then you are not living as Christ taught you, for it was Jesus the second person of the Trinity who informed us that people are going to despise you.

God bless you, and be a gentleman.

The martyrs of the Church please pray for our Brother,******** Cybophonia******

My neighbors are Romanian, and I used to know other Romanian families. I’ve never heard of them being hated. They’re very nice to me, though most of them don’t speak fluent English, so we keep conversations pretty simple.

I’ve heard the grandfather playing some instrument beautifully, with haunting folk tunes. Once I was playing a tape of Welsh folk songs in the same house as the other Romanians I used to know, and they said it sounded like some Romanian folk songs.

If you come to Denmark be prepared to face racism. If I were to give the name of the nazi country of the 21st century that would be Denmark. And it is not just me, or romanians, many foreigners say this. Ask different immigrants. In fact I had an american tell me online that it has heard that Denmark is a sick nazi country(his own words). They don’t like immigrants so much. The DanskeFolkParti has won the elections in June which is an extremist anti-immigrants party.

Well Europe in general is very nationalistic and racist. So expect another experience if you come here and are not from Europe.

I am proud of my nationality! We have an interesting history, come from a very ancient people, many interesting things have been discovered by archaeologists in our home land and the surroundings in the last century, and we have a very beautiful culture.

I am from Banat/Crisana. City Arad. My parents are from ‘Ardeal’. I like Ardeal/Transylvania, a lot. I left Romania for a better way of living. Are you romanian?Where are you from? Do you live in Romania? If no, why not?

Da Romania e o tara frumoasa. Sperante de realizare in tara sunt putine, tara se duce in sant din cauza coruptiei, saraceste tot mai mult.

Nu sunt roman, dar am trait in Europa pentru un timp. Mi-a placut Romania si m-am simtit bine acolo.

I used to wish to speak Romanian in the worst way possible…and I succeeded! I now speak it in the worst way possible… 😉

Along with Italian, the Romanian language has its roots in Latin and should be easy to learn for Roman Catholics who speak or read Latin.

Well I speak French so that is why I can understand most of what I read…but I never managed to master the speaking part…

Dintre toate tarile, Franta si Italia par a fi preferate in Romania.
