Hey everyone. I am so dismayed, sad, and angry right now with our world. An activist judge just ruled today that “gay marriage” is now legal in my state of Indiana effective immediately! I am so incredibly depressed about this it isn’t even funny.
As a Catholic, you are an odd person in the United States and in Indiana. Listen to what one person says about you being Catholic:
you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession…I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
Another writes about you as a Catholic this way:
(Catholics) live in both Greek and barbarian cities,…and follow the local customs in dress and food and other aspects of life, but at the same time they demonstrate the remarkable and admittedly unusual character of their own citizenship. (Catholics) live in their own countries, but only as nonresidents; they participate in everything as citizens, and endure everything as foreigners. Every foreign country is their homeland, and every homeland is foreign… They live on the earth, but their citizenship is in heaven. … They obey the established laws; indeed in their private lives they transcend the laws…
You are Catholic, Indiana is not Catholic; you are Catholic, the United States is not Catholic. Encourage and vote to persuade Indiana and America to do what is just and moral, but do not be discouraged as if somehow it degrades your life if they choose what is unjust or immoral - you are still light shining in a dark place. America is not that light - you are that light, you who are Catholic.
(by the way, your first Pope in his first Encyclical wrote the first quote, and one of the early Church Fathers wrote the second in a letter explaining Catholics to a Pagan named Diognetus, and your King told his people they were the light to the world where they find themselves)
