I am so lost right now. Utilities being disconnected, no signs of our finances getting better. What are we to do? How do I keep my kids fed and clothed? I Am at my parents house right now wondering if this is where we will end up. I have a 2nd interview on Monday, but I am not sure if it is the right job. I just want to know what to do. I am constantly asking God to lead me, show me what I am supposed to do, but I feel like my prayers are not being heard. I feel so helpless and alone, why is it so hard to hear God?

Please pray for me and my family.

Thanks,
Amy

Precious Lord, please be with Amy and her family. Guide her into a job that You want her to have. Gently show her Your path for her and provide for her needs. Touch her with Your presence and help her grow closer to You through this situation. I ask this in the Name of Your Beloved Son, Jesus our Lord, Amen.:highprayer::crossrc:

(A note about “feelings”. We females are so intune with them that sometimes we let them lead us. God however doesn’t always manifest Himself or how he works through our feelings…sometimes, but not always. In other words, He might be ever so close to you right now without you feeling Him:) I was once in a very troubling situation where I didn’t “feel” God near and you know what came to my mind (which I believe was the Holy Spirit speaking clearly) " I can’t work through your fear, only your faith". Trust Him!
I was told once to think of the word TRUST as this: T…true, R…resolve, U…under, S…severe, T…testing. Wow, isn’t that true:)

I will be praying for you:gopray2:

Amy,

God answers our prayers always. Sometimes, He says, "No" or "Not just yet." Sometimes, He says, "Yes."

Keep praying and putting your trust in Him that He will lead you where you want to go. Surrender totally to Him. If He wants you to be poor, accept it. If He wants you to be rich, accept it and use it for good. But above all, be patient.

You may also try praying to St. Jude, the Saint of hopeless cases.

God bless! 🙂

First, know that you are in my prayers, Amy.

Now, how can you be so sure that God is not receptive to your pleas. He gave you your parents to be an anchor in the stormy sea that you are enduring. I know that moving in with family may not seem to be the most ideal, but it is helpful. Why not say a prayer thanking God for that? The manna in the desert wasn’t the most pleasing to the pallette, but it kept God’s people from starving.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you on your interview. Prayerfully discern the appropriateness of the position. God knows your strife and your suffering. Stay strong and keep a grateful heart even when it seems you have almost nothing…

As long as the new job isn’t immoral [e.g., accountant at an abortion mill ], then the job is the right job.

People have told me that, after two years of unemployment, they were refusing a good job because it wasn’t an executive position or because they didn’t like the benefits package.

Take the job.

And this job may not be what you desire, but it also might be that life boat that God is sending for you. Not a coast gaurd battle cruiser maybe, but perhaps a raft. It may not have a huge motor to take you where you want, but it just might keep you afloat while God’s current moves you around to places that he wants you to go.

Keep praying, take faith. Bear this cross with hope in knowing that God will take you where he wants you. I got let go once and it took me a year to find a replacement job. I got a part time job since there was no others avialable. I was making a higher pay rate ($/hr) on my unemployment check than I was from the job I found. I took it with humility and did what I felt I was supposed to do. I filled out several apps almost every day for that entire year.

Finally, when I had reached what I thought was the end, God answered my prayers out of no where and gave me 3 job offers in 4 weeks. And he let me know it was him doing it too. 😛

Take hope… if God cares enough to feed the birds in the sky, surely he will provide for us.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions
Blessed be God our Father, who protects his children and does not spurn their prayers. Let us all humbly pray to him:
– Lord, give us light to see by.

We thank you, Lord, for sending us your only Son to enlighten us:
may his light fill us all day long.
– Lord, give us light to see by.

Lord, send your wisdom to lead us through the day:
let us walk in the purity of a new life.
– Lord, give us light to see by.

Give us the strength to endure adversity for your sake:
with courage let us serve you unceasingly.
– Lord, give us light to see by.

Guide our thoughts, our feelings and our actions today,
so that we may serve you and follow you.
– Lord, give us light to see by.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

We pray to you, Lord, the true Light and the creator of light.
May we keep our minds on what is holy
and live always in the brightness of your presence.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm; and may he lead us to eternal life.

Hey, you said ‘a second interview’, right?
Feel very blessed. How many people applying for that job are not being offered a second interview? You are! That’s a great sign to me.

You must have something on the ball, which is not coming through with your prayer request.

Get back into that positive, winning, assured in the Lord attitude. Enthuse, a little.

There are many many praying for you. So am I. Be enthusiastic!
(enthusiasm, from the Greek, en theos, to be with God!)

You’re never lost when you’re with God! Amen!👍

I know what you’re feeling. I, too, have no job and gave up everything to be with a man who rejected me without reason or warning. My only saving grace is that I don’t have to worry about feeding my children. I feel for you there, deeply.

I feel like it’s hard to hear God, too and wonder whether He hears or even if He exists. I will pray for you.

Hail Mary, full of grace
The lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Dear God, hear our prayers and help this woman so she may once again find independence and be able to care for her children. Let her have a successful interview and find a job that is right for her.

Amen.

Thank you all for the prayers and kind words of support. I feel bad for letting myself get so down, but you are right. I have many blessings and how can God help me if I am letting fear take over instead of faith.

Again I appreciate your kind words, they really have made me feel better.

Thanks,
Amy

I’ll be praying for you, Amy. I, too, need a job, but not nearly as badly as you do. Keep asking God to lead you and give you the patience and strength you need.

As far as your basic needs are concerned… have you contacted the church? They may have programs that can help (such as food pantries). yes, it is humbling, but these are humbling times. Also, there are many government options out there too.

Cymonk.

Praying that you get some financial help and find a new job quickly …

There was a television program that was a memorial to a fellow who died on the job.

It was an episode of “Deadliest Catch”. Because one of the ship captains died. Phil Harris. Age 54.

He started out barely a teenager by begging for a job and that he would work as a greenhorn FOR FREE.

Which he did.

He did every dirty miserable task they threw at him. He was seasick most of the time.

However, after a month, one of the other crewmen was injured and could no longer work. As a result they asked the greenhorn to step in as a full-share deckhand.

[He then saved his money and invested his savings in buying a share in a boat, became one of the youngest captains. He worked very very hard.]

The point is that had he not taken that terrible greenhorn job, and 95% do not work out, and offered to work for free, he would not have been able to take advantage of the openings that developed later on.

Capt. Phil Harris was not the most religious guy around and we have no idea how he was greeted at his last judgement.

But he knew for quite a while that he was dying. In retrospect he referred to “not being around” much longer on several occasions. So, hopefully, he reached out at the last moment.

But we all did get to know him and his and his sons’ job “issues”.

So, here is just one of the many Web sites and blogs that center on Phil Harris … RIP

None of us are going to be asked to work at 30 below zero, in 30 mph winds, with 30 foot waves. [The photography is spectacular.] How do those guys keep their cigarettes lit?]

But it inspires me to quit complaining.

Please let us know how things turn out if you feel comfortable doing so.

Well I didn’t get the job, but it’s ok. I know that God has a different path than that one for me. I have an interview on Thursday so we’ll see how that goes. We received some financial help and are working hard to make everything work. I keep praying and believing and I know God will help. I feel like I have come through a dark place of fear and now shining with faith. I have not made it through the storm yet, but I can see the shore and know God will help me get through.

Thank you for all of your prayers and kind words. They really have helped. Please don’t stop praying, I won’t.
Amy
