I am 44 yrs old and am having thoughts of suicide. I have tried to commit suicide a few times. I understand that only God knows when it is our time to pass. But i have been thinking that We do not know how or when we will pass. but if it is our time to pass by our own hand then that is the way that God inetened for us to pass. I am not saying that suicide is right or that i really want to go that way, but some times the feelings are so over whelming, that is all i can think about. I have gone and gotten help, with counceling and meds. But they only work for a little bit. I can feel my self going down that road, I try to go a differant way but always end back to this action. I have finally started to pray that what ever is to happen, happens and ends up the way it is supposed to happen.

Have you talked to a priest?

I will pray for you. So will many others here, I’m sure.

God’s will for your life would never be for you to end it. Yes, He gives you the free will to do so - but His desire for you is to live your life until He calls you home. Ending your own life is committing murder. That is always a sin, and is never “supposed” to happen.

Having said that, I cannot fathom the pain you must be in to feel the way you do. For that I am so truly sorry. My eyes tear up just thinking about the despair you must feel.

I can’t help but think that different meds, different counceling would be able to help you? Please don’t give up. Please keep trying.

I am praying for you now.

If you’re in the US, here is the national suicide hotline. Someone is there to listen 24/7
1-800-784-2433.

im praying for u, please never commit such act, God Loves You!!!

Where possible remove yourself from the situations and relationships that you’re unable to cope with. Or, find step by step solutions to those problems. Give yourself time to adapt and adjust.

Turn your attention toward helping people less fortunate than you.

You’re in my thoughts and prayers. As above, seek help often, and emergency help when needed.

Every new breath is a precious gift from God. You can be assured that God, the Lord of Life, does indeed want you to live when he gives you that next breath. Please keep praying and be certain that God loves you and still has plans for you in this earthly life.

God be with you.

You can seek professional help immediately, Gods’ will for your life, would never be this. Take that step, step out in faith, ask for help right away! God will put persons in your life to help you with your thoughts and feelings of helplessness.

Dont allow it to become immobilizing.

Praying for you. God is a merciful God, and life is meant for living. Know that His love for you is eternal.

I am praying for you! Please don’t hurt yourself, God loves you!

Us2of2: Catholics are not allowed to sin and say God allowed it so it must be alright.Isympathize with you.I was so depressed I tried suicide twice.I’ve been on over 15 different meds.over the past 18 yrs.and finally found one that works. If you haven’t tried cymbalta yet it might work for you too.I hope your situation isn’t as desperate as mine.I’ve seen many different social health professionals and psychiatrists. Finally stopped seeing a psychiatrist two months ago.Don’t give up no matter how desperate.Don’t be afraid to keep requesting new meds.if you feel no comfort from those your using. There are maybe a hundred different meds.which claim to help the same ailment. All of us are different and react differently to the same meds.I’ve been told I was psychotic,a manic depressive, bipolar, schizophrenic, ect. It will take time and pain.Don’t give up on prayer. If you can’t pray dont be discouraged.Keep trying the best way you can in your own way.I use to pray to die.I would lay in bed for days and couldn’t stand up because my legs were so stiff.I’m 61yrs old now and have been considered mentally disabled for 20yrs.I could say more.I was told St Jude is a good one to pray to but i never did.I believe there’s help for anyone but not positive.Bye.

Wow- you are so not alone. I have been struggling with this as well. Believe it or not, coming onto this site really helps me when I am overwhelmed with suicidal thoughts. Looking at the prayer intentions, reading through various threads- I start to think about other people’s suffering and it takes my mind off of my own.

There are also times when the suffering is so bad I have to think along with St. Therese, “I am going to make myself stay alive for ten more minutes,” and if even that seems surmontable, I think, “I will try to stay alive for five more minutes”, and if that too, is hard I even go to one more minute.

Sometimes I have to call upon all the angels to help me to fight the temptation; other times it is the saints. The chaplet to Our Lady of Perpetual Help has gotten me out of some very bad downward spirals.

I too, have gone down all kinds of roads to help with the suicidal tendencies (therapy, excercise, diet, medication, etc.) and none of them have seemed to help thus far. I have been struggling especially the last twenty-four hours, when I came across your post. I don’t think these things happen by accident. Pray for me and I will pray for you, okay? Hang in there…:hug1:

Remember: God will ****NEVER **** put you in a situation that you can’t overcome or get through…

Committing suicide will not solve your problems…Many people who have tried have had a near death experience where they encountered the devil and have found themselves on the door step of hell.

First of all, pray to St. Michael and St. Raphael, two of the Archangels for help.

If yours is a medical/psychiatric problem, please seek professional help.

In any case, you need to know you are in a fierce battle for your soul, not with flesh and blood, but principalities and powers, the powers of dark vs. the powers of light, and against none other than Satan himself, who Jesus said was a liar and a murderer from the beginning! All those depressing lies he’s whispering in your ear have only one purpose and that is your death, both physical and spiritual! Resist him! Call on Our Lady to send angels to help you fight!

You need to take up the weapons that you have been provided. Gird yourself with the Sacraments of Confession (at least monthly, maybe weekly), Communion (daily, if possible). Be humble. Satan has no defense against humility! Pray the Rosary daily. It is the “preferred small arms” of Our Lady’s army! Fast if you are able. And, then, once you’ve done these things, go look for someone worse off than yourself to help. I mean it. Maybe an old, retired person who can’t get out. Visit a nursing home. Do something to help others. If you do not fight back, you will lose for all eternity. As the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen used to say, “Dead bodies float downstream! It takes live bodies to fight against the current!” 🙂

My brother-

We’ve been there. Alot of us have been close-very close-to ending our lives. Believe me when I say this-there is HOPE in Christ. I can’t stress that enough. If you need to talk to someone, there is a suicide hotline out there 1-800-273-8255. Please don’t hesitate to call them.

Whatever you do, please, please, please don’t do it.

Beloved Brother in Christ - I just became a brand new member of this wonderful forum after seeing your posting.

I prayed to Jesus for inspiration as to what I could do in addition to praying for you, and felt inspired to share a wonderful spiritual testimony that has helped me tremendously grow in my faith as a Roman Catholic. Please, take the time to read this beautiful testimony from Dr Gloria Polo that shows our Lord’s deep and unconditional Love for us. Here’s the link to her testimony testimony-polo.blogspot.com/ and this is her website gloriapolo.in/

I feel this testimony is a gift from God to help us have a glimpse of his great Love for all of us and the true power of prayer. In fact you will find that Dr. Gloria Polo was destined to Hell and was given a second chance because of a deep loving prayer of a complete stranger.

I humbly join everyone else here in loving prayer for your beautiful soul to be showered with blessings and graces by Jesus, our Savior. Open you heart to the Holy Spirit and ask Jesus to have the Holy Spirit fill your heart with all his love. May God Bless You and everyone else in your predicament around the world.

God Bless everyone!

Please don’t give up. Everyone has dark days. Be strong and one day you will look back on your life and be glad you held on. Remember, God loves you! We will all be praying for you.

please don’t do it. If you want to you can come over and stay with me for a while just send me a message.

 please, would you tell us more about this?

I listed a Near Death Experience (NDE) in page 1 of this thread where a doctor was struck dead by a lightning and was destined to hell, but was given a second chance by the loving prayers of a complete stranger. In fact the doctor says that she came to an area at the gates of hell (past purgatory) where deeply sad souls who had committed suicide had to wait for their natural deaths to occur before they could be judged. In the meantime, they suffered immensely seeing their loved ones blame each other for their suicide. Here’s the link testimony-polo.blogspot.com/ Dr Gloria Polo’s website is gloriapolo.in/

God Bless to All

i have been in your situation also. tried to take my life more than once. please call the suicide line. 1-800-273-8255. it may seem pointless, i know that is what i used to think. but these people are here to help you and dont mind doing all the talking or all the listening. whichever you prefer, just knowing someone who cares is there.
