So glad it all went well, and your dad’s story is so wonderful!! My own father had a recent re-version to the Faith, so I know your joy over this, it is an amazing feeling.Chris - Our parish is participating in the “adopt a priest” project through Opus Sanctorum Angelorum. My husband and I both “adopted” priests this past Sunday, and I have decided to add you on to my daily prayers along with the priest I was assigned. I hope you don’t mind.

Hello everyone
I am SO SO SO sorry I did not reply earlier. My internet is down so I am posting this message from my local library.
I cannot thank everyone enough you have been so great to me and you have gave me so much support and courage. Really I cant put into words how thankful I am.
My parents are absolutly over the moon I dont think I have ever seen them so happy as when i told them.They actually said they always knew I would be a Priest and it was only a matter of time.
This is such a huge difference than if I had told my dad one year ago. My dad was a hardline athiest and decided to come to Rome with me out of curiosity. One week before we went to Rome I begged and pleaded with the Virgin Mary and Saint Peter to show him the truth in Christ.
I dont know if you know this ( so please PM me if you want details its called the Scavi tour) But when you visit the Vatican you can actually go 30ft underground and walk on the original 2000 year old Vatican hill and see the bones of Saint Peter. Lets just say my dad had a Religious experiece ( BIG TIME ) I wont go in to details because it will sound as if I am making it up plus its his own personal “Religious experience”.
His own words after the Scavi tour " I now belive in God actually i believe that Jesus is the son of God "
To get my dad back in the Catholic faith was such a grace because i know it would have torn us apart if he had disagreed with me ansering the call.
If anyone is interested it is the Religious Priesthood i feel called to enter. I am from Scotland but i feel called to travel to the United States I will be visiting in November

Hopefully in the near future i will humbly start a blog if anyone would be interested. Even though I am only 21 I have quite a story to tell. I believe this is the glory and the victory of God I cannot and I doubt I will ever unterstand why someone as unworthy as myself has been called by God. Jesus has truely stolen my soul.

Thanks for posting again Celtic. It was wonderful to read that your parents have received the news very well. I pray that you will continue to deepen your own love for our Lord, Lady and the Church, which will have a great impact on your parents.
I am 18 years old just now and discerning a call to the priesthood, but my parents are non-Catholics (I converted against their will) so I am dreading telling them, but God willing, that will go ok.

And as for what I quoted above, you took the words out of my mouth. I can not even begin to comprehend why God would choose to give me this amazing calling, when a couple of years ago people would have laughed at the thought of me going to Church, let alone becoming a priest.
As St. Francis said “I have been all things unholy. If God can work through me, He can work through anyone.”
Let us pray that He uses all of us sinners to achieve the greater glory of God and the salvation of many souls. Amen.

Thankyou everyone so much. I have reread these posts so many times i think i could read them with my eyes shut.
AmyLiz if you are planning to travel to the Vatican it is a must that you try and get Scavi tickets it will be the highlight of your trip. I think its best to email them around 3 months before your arrival date and I think a little bit of begging goes a very far way and it can be months before they give you a yes or a no answer.
The Scavi is the excavations that took place in the 1960’s where they found a 2000 year old necropolis ( A city of the dead ). On the Scavi tour you can see the original RED WALL you are then taken to where the bones of Saint Peter are believed to be ( The bones are missing the feet which adds to the tradition Saint peter was crucified upside down )
You can see the Bones trough a niche and also a wall covered in 1st AD grafitti which says Peter is whithin and Peter is in Peace.
We had a beautiful young Italian girl with perfect English give us the tour. I was trying to ask questions but unfortuatly my strong Scottish accent was incomprehensible to her. She tryed her best God bless her but i knew she couldnt unsterstand a thing i was saying lol.
Towards the end of the tour was the highlight she recited the scripture.
Jesus said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven.
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
She then said Ladies and getleman THIS IS THE ROCK pointing to the bones of Saint Peter. An incredible moment. Also to be walking on the original pathway where the earliest Christians would have took to pray at the bones of the Rock is amazing. The scavi tour just reinstates the fact that our faith does not rest on a myth. Rather it is something you can really feel and touch.

Stuart how great it is to see another Scotsman hear the call. I know exactly how hard it can be growing up in British society.
I have lived in Poland and Ireland and i have never encountered any where else how humiliating it can be to be a practicing young Catholic man in Scotland.
Our youth tells us if your not a violent,drug abusing, womanising young man then you are an outsider.
It only means that our cross is going to be all the more heavy when we decide to take it up. The heavier the better all the more glory to God.
Your story of your conversion is inspiring to say the least. And your a very brave young man to put your head above what our society tells us to do. If you choose the diocesan priesthood then all the more respect I have for you.
Even through I havent counted out the possibility of joining the diocese of Scotland. At the moment I believe it is best for me to take a clean break from all my friends and not dwell in the past. I am sure that if God wants me to enter in to the priesthood in Scotland he will make it very clear to me as he has always done.
My prayers are with you Stuart and please stay in contact with me and let me know how your discerment went.
And Stuart I really hope Celtic beat Hapoel Tel-Aviv tommorow in Isreal lol

We must not forget that our Lord was a failure to even his closest companions at the time of his death. Oh how more wrong could the world have been.
If the Apostles who lived and breathed with Jesus for 3 years could not unsterstand the mystery and glory of the lord how shall we comprehend it.
I thank God for drawing me to these forums and giving me all my friends. I could not have had the courage to take up the cross with out you all.
