I was thinking about truth. There has been discussions’ here regarding what is true and where/how to find out whats really true. How does one decide what is true.

I’m wondering, if there have been any religious leaders who have claimed what Jesus said, when He said I am the way, the Truth, and the life.

He didn’t say He knew the truth, or was searching for the truth. Jesus said He is the Truth. This means, He is inseparable from the Truth. All Truth is from Him, they are one and the same.

Who else can make this claim?

🙂

You are correct, Jesus is the Truth and Jesus can not be seperated even though christians have attempted to justify you can but you can not. Jesus is not confused about himself, man is. So, where do we get the “Pillar and Foundation of Truth”? The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Chuch.

No-one. God alone is truth and can make this claim
If there is no One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, then there is no Jesus. The Church is what Jesus gave himself up for. He gave it up for the Truth which lies in the Church, the Soul of the Holy Sprit.

Umm… Jesus gave Himself up in atonement for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD… Not just us Catholics… I’m sorry to comment on your statement but I never meant any offense. Believe me I’m on your side.

Thing is you sound like the other extreme of the argument some fundamentalists present when they claim that Jesus is their “own” personal Lord and Savior when they were “born again” or “saved”. As if Jesus didn’t die for the people who weren’t “born again”…

yes, He is the Truth. However, from some Protestant point of view, Jesus and The Truth can be concluded that They are separable.

The Truth is there from the Beginning and so is Jesus. Then why some people says “Mary is the Mother of Jesus” not “the Mother of God”. Are they implying Jesus and The Truth are separable?

Hi kitty,

I am not catholic but I believe in the truth of the word…God’s word the bible.
I’m wondering, if there have been any religious leaders who have claimed what Jesus said, when He said I am the way, the Truth, and the life.
In my church my pastor refers to the bible verse you refernced many of time. The whole verse says…
**Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 **
He didn’t say He knew the truth, or was searching for the truth. Jesus said He is the Truth. This means, He is inseparable from the Truth. All Truth is from Him, they are one and the same.
I agree with you 100%
Who else can make this claim?
No one

I saw your post. And I want to post an experience I had on Sunday. I am a suday school teacher, 3rd grade.

I asked them a question, describe Jesus. Who Is Jesus to you?

3rd grader said…

“If I was being punished for a serious crime, and they sent me to prison”

as they were about to lock the jail cell she said a sincere prayer to God…God I am sorry for sinning against you and I ask you to forgive me. I believe Jesus died for my sins, I hate the things I have done. I invite Jesus to be the Lord and saviour of my life.

"Jesus would answer my prayer and say to me your sins are forgiven you are free. Jesus took my place and set me free.

Jesus payed the ransom for our sins.
He died in our place so we can be free and have a new life to honor Him in appreciation of the gift He offers all of us.

The gift of Salvation and
A personal relationship with Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

Jesus said “no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.
John 14:6

no man, not through a priest, bishop, cardinal or pope but by Jesus

that is the truth

God bless

I am quoting scripture and the catechism. One ,Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church is the teaching of the Church (Council of Nicea 325) any non belief in this statement of faith is against the teaching of the Church.Read Ephesians 5:21-33 very carefully. The “Whole World” is Katholicos in Greek and Universi in Latin. They both mean the “Whole” or “All”. I am very accurate with this teaching of the Church. No offense taken.

Please explain? I’m not sure what that sentence (highlighted) means. The Church did not take the place of Christ and to say there is no Jesus? 🤷 I don’t understand what your saying.

The Church *possesses * truth if it is loyal and obedient to Jesus who *is * truth. Jesus / God alone is truth. God and His Word Incarnate is the ultimate truth - not the Church. The further the Church strays from God/Christ the more it becomes a falsehood. Furthermore, the Church does not have exclusive possession of God - He belongs and comes to everyone, he desires salvation for everyone - not just catholics.

from Aristotle (via Peter Kreeft)

“One speaks the truth when one says of what is that it is and what is not that it is not; one does not speak the truth when one says of what is that it is not and what is not that it is”

Now, apply this to what Jesus said about himself

There you go again. Our sins after baptism are not automatically forgiven by God. You say we don’t have to have sorrow; we don’t have to repent. Remember, you have no guarantee you are going to heaven unless you repent of all your sins. And you pay the penalty for doing them.

And even after you die, the punishment due to your sins has to be answered for. Just as in this life. If you rob, and repent to the police, and return the goods, you still go to prison. You have to pay for your sins, like your crimes.

Jesus gave his priests and bishop to forgive sin. You know the verses. Does your pastor absolve you of your sins? No, he doesn’t even claim to have that power.

Priest and bishops in the Catholic Church take that authority given by Jesus Christ.

You got that partially right. But The Church is not the Soul of the Holy Spirit. Where does it say that in your bible?

Yes, there is one, holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I didn’t know you were a member of our Church.

If Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, will everyone be saved and vindicated at the day of judgment? Or will people go to hell for the sins Jesus already paid for?

Just as Jesus said. At the end, God will separate the sheep from the goats, the chaff from the wheat. Those without a wedding garment will be cast out into the exterior darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

If sinners don’t repent of their sins, if they don’t belong to Christ’s Catholic Church, they are not going to be saved.

Where do you get the idea that Christ’s death, in itself, meant that everyone is saved. Have they shut down hell? Has the devil been laid off? Is Satan taken back into the ranks, and St. Michael and he are now good friends?

I don’t know where any of this comes from, and I would love to be enlightened.

If Christ’s atonement is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And the sins of the whole world means all people at all times and all places without exception. Then, it follows that everyone is saved, since God’s wrath has been appeased by means of the death of Christ.

Everyone is saved already. (They just don’t know it yet.:D)

I still don’t know where you are getting this from. Is this something out of the Protestant reformation?

Do you have some proof of this? Have you read the Gospel?

“Be awake, the devil, as a roaring lion goes about seeking whom he may devour”.

Yes, Jesus died for our sins, but penitence for all sin is required of us.

You you are saying is that if I commit serious sin this minute, and without any sorrow or repentance, I go straight to heaven? Christ’s death did not require anything of me? Apparently, even the notion of faith, hope or charity doesn’t enter into this.

All the churches should be closed down. Nothing now seems to have to be done. ??? John Calvin should be turning over in his grave with this stuff, which ignores the Gospels, and the Epistles, and the New Covenant. This is not Christianity, or the message of Jesus Christ.

This is what private interpretation does for Christians? No wonder there are 13000 brands of Christ’s message.

So do you have your sins forgiven on the basis of your penitence?God requires of you perfect perpetual obedience to his holy law. Have you done this?

It is false that if you commit serious sins right now without repentance, then you go to heaven. Because it can be true that a man sins and then does not go to heaven. A conditonal is false when the antecedent is true and the consequent false.

Christ’s death actually expiated sins, it is not a hypothetical possibility. If you say that Christ died for everyone, then every single person will be saved in the end.
