In fairness to the ZoeBlue here on CAF, she may not be the same as the one on Facebook.

It also seems to be a not uncommon name for businesses, from photograpy to china.
So true, but it does make one wonder.

He actually asked for a check for around $150 to basically declair my marriage invalid since my husband isn’t Catholic. That seems horrid to me so I refused. He won’t talk to me anymore. I get an unclean vibe from him and he is extremely cold to me.
Be careful, not every priest is what they are supposed to be & represent, He sounds like a scam artist, avoid him, Attend another church if You have too, asking for 150.00 to clear this up is a disgrace to say the least.

We don’t know that he is a scam artist. It might be the down payment or the complete payment for the marriage tribunal. Just not sure why the poster doesn’t understand this. Could just be part misscomunication or part resistance on the part of the poster to take care of what is necessary.

Zoe,

I realize that things are often very tight financially and such, but in reading through this thread, it strikes me that you very much still are having a lot of trouble from the horrible abuse you underwent. That seems to be hindering you with your priest, and his abruptness and such probably wouldn’t be such an impediment if it wasn’t for the abuse, and it sounds likely that it’s still affecting your relationship with your husband as well.

If it’s possible and note that many places will give lower rates for those lacking in finances, but if it’s possible, it would be important for you to seek some counseling to help you better deal with the abuse. See the thing is that you are seeing everything through the lens of that abuse.

For instance you are saying why should I have to pay when I was abused. They really aren’t related to each other and so all these people who haven’t gone through the abuse are trying to explain it but it really doesn’t make sense to you, because for you the abuse is the focus.

The way the priest is, from his gruff demeanor to the loss of the paperwork is again apparently seen by you through the lens of the abuse. It’s almost like you are waiting for him to attack you or something.

Your husband is trying to avoid things, he doesn’t want anything to do with the Catholic Church because he sees largely sees it through you, and what he is hearing is coming through that abuse lens again so he wants to have nothing to do with the Catholic Church, what he hears from you sounds like the Church itself is abusing you because that’s what he hears. He’s trying to spare and support you.

This of course is really just looking at what and how you’ve written and trying to explain things to you. Abuse is a very difficult thing, others expect you to just get over it once it’s not continuing but often that doesn’t happen. Please try and get the help of a professional counselor.

I could be wrong here, but can the priest baptize children if one parent says no? I didn’t think he could. If that is the case, your husbands refusal is probably why he won’t do it.

No priest will baptize a child if he has no reasonable hope that the child will be raised in the faith.

The whole justification for infant baptism is that the child is carried to the font in the arms of the parents’ faith.

Yah know, from what I have read in many of the replies, I do not think folks have been as “charitable” in some of their replies. There has been a lot of statements made in defense of the priest involved and I wonder if that is a good idea without knowing the entire situation.
Surely nobody should not rush to condemn this priest ‘without knowing the entire situation’ either, though? ‘Innocent until proven guilty’ and all that? Does the priest not deserve the same measure of charity as the original poster?

Only one parent needs to consent - Canon 868

'Can. 868 §1. For an infant to be baptized licitly:

1/ the parents or at least one of them or the person who legitimately takes their place must consent;’
