This year on the Eve of Theophany (1/5/19), we had Great Compline with Litiya, the Vigil Divine Liturgy and the Great Blessing of Water. It took about 3 hours but it was well worth it.
We have our own 1-year cycle of readings and we have our own liturgical calendar.Do the Eastern Catholic churches do the same readings as the Roman Catholics throughout the year? They follow our liturgical calendar I imagine.
It depends. We have two Ukrainian Catholic churches in our town. One of them is on the Gregorian calendar and one of them is on the Julian calendar. Our parish is Gregorian, like the Roman Catholics. Thanks for the info babochka. Do you celebrate Christmas and Easter with the
Roman Catholics - the same dates I mean, unlike the Orthodox churches like
thr Greek Orthodox or Russian Orthodox?
There are twenty-three eastern Catholic sui iuris churches since Georgia was not recognized as one. The Russian, Belarusian, Albanian, and Macedonian are the smallest.
Holy Resurrection Monastery, Romanian Greek Catholic, in St Nazianz, Wisconsin is on the revised Julian. That’s the only Greek Catholic Church I know of that follows that calendar. As far as I know, there are no Eastern Catholic churches that follow the revised Julian calendar.
September 21.WOW! Vichnaya jemu pamyat! May his memory be eternal! What day did he pass away?
