Just wanted to share about the beautiful Ordination Mass that I attended today. Five dedicated men were ordained to the priesthood in our diocese at 10:30 this morning. It was wonderful to witness the ordination of 2 of the men who I know personally and who had received part of their formation in my parish as deacons and seminarians. The gathering of our Bishop, our retired Bishop and all of the priests of our diocese was a sight to behold. As they gave the “kiss of peace” and participated in the “laying n of hands” it brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning. 🙂

I too attended an ordination today at St Patrick’s Cathedral… 6 men were ordained for the Archdiocese of NY, 2 for the Fransican Friars of the Renewal and one for the Idente Missionaries. The latter was one of my cohort and we graduated together last year. The Cardinal was the presider and he used the chalice that the Pope gave him when he was here. The same choir that sang for the pope sang today. It was over 2 hours long and really beautiful. My friend was very happy. I am dissapointed that I won’t be able to attend his first mass and reception, since I have to work and it is MOther’s Day.

I’m a little bit jealous. It sounds beautiful.

Last year, we had a seminarian in our parish, and we were able to go to his ordination to the transitional diaconate. It was very nice. A few months later we were able to attend his first Solemn Mass. One of a kind experiences…
