Oh yeah, i was there!! lol
I go there a lot for masses, my uncle is a Marist priest.
I love that church, my Mum and Dad were married there years ago.
It’s a gorgeous church, for sure. I read and distribute Communion there about once a month.

Is your uncle one of the priests there or is he somewhere else? Don’t need you to name names or anything 😉

Small world isnt it! I went there a couple of weeks ago when Fr Riley did a mass there, he is a great man!
I was going to volunteer to work in the coffee shop there, but i ended up volunteering somewhere else.

I sent you the info about my uncle in a msg 😉

While you didn’t give any details of why you broke down, if it was because of stress and anxiety, I feel qualified to make a comment.

When it feels like the world is weighing down on me; If there are deadlines, meetings, projects, etc and there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to get everything done that needs to get done… I stop everything I’m doing. Take a deep breath. Remind myself that I am only one person. Remind myself that I am doing everything that I can do. Remind myself to do it right the first time so I don’t have to revisit it again and add to the mounting stress. Then tell myself, it will get done when it gets done.

It takes a minute. You can do something similar with any situation, whether staving off anxiety, addiction, temptation… whatever ailes you at that moment.

Sometimes stopping everything and taking a deep breath is all you need to gather your wits about you again.

G’luck Dolphin.

Hello Dolphinlove.

I’m glad you were able to see the wrong of your actions and make it to confession.

I’ve run by many of your posts in the past and you seem like such a wonderful person.

Two things if I may?

One poster here addressed the actions of your ‘friend’. My dear, friends do not treat people the way you were treated. Your ‘friend’ knew you were vunerable and took advantage of that vunerability. I don’t care if you threw yourself at him, he was not a friend. Please think about that.

Second. I’m not sure about your anxiety but my wife has suffered through some horrible things in life that made her at times despise herself and act out in ways to punish herself. If you feel that may be the case with you feel free to PM me and I will share any details that may help you.

God bless you and you are in my prayers!

My dh is a recovering alcoholic with anxiety. He realizes now that he was self medicating for the severe anxiety he has been dealing with since childhood. Medication really helps him. It took a while for him to find the right combination and dosage of meds, and he has to realize what situation(s) are likely to trigger him, but it has really helped. Also, he was in counseling for 2 years.

So, I would definitely recommend prayer, 12-step meetings, counseling and meds. :blessyou:

Yesterday at my first meeting with a spiritual director who is a very traditional Priest, said to me after I unloaded on him,“this is too much for you to handle alone, give it to Jesus Christ who has washed you clean with His blood”. You have been to confession and have been washed clean, now give your anxiety to Him who can endure the cross and I’ll try to do the same. Peace, Tim

Getting smaller every day 😃

And isn’t he just :yup: I actually went to Saturday vigil and again on Sunday that weekend, so I got to hear him speak twice - almost completely different talk the second time. I get the feeling that I could’ve sat through all dozen Masses that weekend and would’ve heard something different each time.

Tell us about you’re going to Europe, if you want, I have been meaning to ask you and instead got wrapped up in the posts themselves. Sorry.

I’ve never even had a drink of alcohol before (I’m 18) but I hear that the AA programs through the Catholic Church are fantastic. Maybe you could look into that, as well as some sort of spiritual direction.

I have anxiety issues as well. I have Tourrete’s Syndrome, which is closely correlated with my anxiety problems and my OCD. I don’t want to say I understand what you are going through, because everyone is different, and my issues certainly seem to be different than yours. If you are not on medication, I suggest you go to a psychologist, and if he or she thinks you may need some medication, you may go to a psychyitrist as well. I have been going to the same psychologist and the same psychiatrist regularly for around 10 years now. Medication has really helped me, but only the doctors can help you in that area. You should also look towards the Church and your faith for help, as well.

I will pray for you all, for your wonderful support, and for being wonderful people.
