Hello, today I abstained from meat but didn’t fast completely, I ate three medium meals (counting chocolate milk), but some minutes ago I couldn’t resist the temptation and eat one more snack…

I can’t take Communion, can I? I really wanted to take communion tomorrow but at the same time I don’t want to bother the priests just for this…

I love this answer from a priest: http://catholicvu.com/3006 MORTAl SIN.htm
Mortal sin is committed not so much in regards of breaking a commandment or regulation, but by the motivation of the heart. There are people who commit mortal and destructive sin because they want to do it. And they don’t care about the consequences and the destructive power of mortal sin.
God will judge the heart for it is the motivation of the heart that defines whether any wrongdoing is a mortal (deadly) or venial (not deadly) sin. Jesus made this quite clear several times in the gospels and especially in the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 7, Verse 15: “Nothing that enters one from the outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.”
I suspect you’re good to go. 🙂

How can you make any guesses on the OPs intentions when he has not spoken of his intentions at all?

Mortal sin requires three elements: grave matter, full knowledge, and full consent. If these are indeed present, mortal sin is present.

It does not seem to me you had full consent to commit a mortal sin and fully wanted to do so. Three half meals was well above the requirement.

3 meals and a snack?
I dont know how big the meals were but is there some medical or mental issue that keeps you from being able to fast?

No, that’s why I am asking, I did mostly just out of impulse.

A clarification: when I use “meals” I am refering to something equal or smaller than a dish (I tried to follow the rule “one dish and two smaller meals”).

I dont know the difference between a meal or a dish. That seems so subjective. Anyway, honestly in most places fasting is a breeze compared to history. We need to work on our wills and impulses as a society!
