I just started praying the rosary and I’m having a hard remembering the prayers , I just read them on my phone is that ok ? .

So the bulk of the Rosary is the Our Father and Hail Mary. Those don’t take too long to nail, you can try saying them out loud until the words start to sound weird, then keep reciting it.

The rest comes with time. It can help to listen to the Rosary while you pray it. Don’t sweat it, you’ll have it memorized before you know it.

Sure…

You can use your phone.

There are also CDs and DVDs that you can pray along with too, and also YouTube videos that you can pray along with, as well. 🙂

I have trouble with my memory at times, and I will forget parts of well-known prayers. I will then need to refer to well-known Catholic prayer books for help with recalling our common Catholic prayers.

I will use a Rosary prayer booklet myself, to help me pray. It usually has nice illustrated pictures that helps me to focus on the mystery that I’m praying, and it also has the Rosary prayers in it, too.

I wrote them on a notecard that I folded up and kept in my wallet until I had prayed them enough times that I remembered them. Phones are too distracting to me to use during prayer.

Of course, it is ok to read from your phone. I suggest you use any aid in your prayer that is suitable to you.

I think you probably meant the mysteries. There are four mysteries (Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious). Each mystery has five mysteries each. I remember by the sequences of how they happened in the Bible. For example, the Joyful mystery - it starts with the Annunciation, followed by the visitation (to cousin Elizabeth). I would remember how the baby John which was still in the womb jumped (leaped) when the Blessed Virgin came to visit his mother. An interesting word from Elizabeth here as she said, “Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb,” which forms a part of the prayer Hail Mary. What I would always remember here is that Elizabeth continued to say, “Why I am so favored that the mother of my Lord come to see me?” This is despite the fact the Mary is just her cousin but she recognized her as conceiving Elizabeth’s Lord. … And so on.

You know, by going through the mystery step by step, you would actually learn your Bible.

The Rosary is actually a beautiful gift for us. It is a very simple prayer given to us. We do not have to be an expert in praying to pray it. And anybody can do it, by reading from a prayer booklet or even a phone.

As You pray the Rosary, you will actually get to remember them (the mysteries) easily.

Have a blessed time in your prayers.

God bless.

I thank you for your comment and (name removed by moderator)ut

I just use a script and keep it in my prayer notebook, especially since I am doing a 54 day novena.

Don’t get too worked up about it.

Yes, I still use my phone mainly for the Apostles Creed and the Hail Holy Queen to remember or I play a video.

Just keep praying and eventually you should be able to know it by heart.
